View Full Version : Background Codec Noise

I have a Linux-based server and client. I am feeding the client with audio from my scanner. Playing the audio directly through the sound card I do not hear any background static. However, when the audio is broadcast via teamspeak there is noticeable background static. I have tried various codecs to see which is the most intelligible (right now I am using GSM 16.4KB) but they all have some degree of background static/hiss. I have also tried backing off the input (it is being fed into line in on the audio card) to see if it was overdriving the card. However, this does not seem to be the case. I have listened to other scanner setups on teamspeak and they do not seem to suffer this problem.

Any suggestions ?

I have the same issue has anyone found a solution. My mic records fine when I use a audio recording software. However, through Teamspeak my voice is fine but there is a constant noise in the background. If I reboot to XP there is no issue. So the point is it has to be inside the Linux TS client. I have clicked every button I can to no avail Both in Kmix and TS.

Does anyone have any suggestions besides get another sound card and try that.

Note: Same issue as this person as well

Bump!

My friend also has this issue with an nvidia integrated audio card on Ubuntu Linux.
However, on my Ubuntu system this problem does not exist. I have an Audigy 4 Pro card.

Please fix this problem or at least give us a workaround.
