Is it me, or does it seem to be getting worse?
Its starting to annoy me in some cases. Ie illiteracy, and bad punctuation, grammar and such
I know im not perfect
I have no problems with non 'english people' who for many its a 2nd, 3rd language and such. In many cases what they are trying to say, may not flow 100%, but it is certainly more understandable
Anyone else agree?
Sam
Its mostly ppl w/ parents speking english don wont to rite proper skewl sucks and chat short cuts r cool.
So I agree it is bad, I don't know about worse or better.
I agree that it is a problem. Many good ideas are lost in poorly written posts. If a post begins poorly, I generally do not finish reading it. The problem seems worse as the number of people with internet access grows.

lololololololol
I'm 17, so i dont always write in full english (well, tbh, how many people online do?), but on forums, i try to make sure i put it so people can understand it
Its funny, it goes back to this sort of english saying - "Foreigners learn and speak better english than us"....
this is called laziness..
i write proper sometimes, but when im in a rush, i type like that..only if im in a rush.
i dont hit the shift key or the caps lock key for one reason: im too lazy plus i type proper without it.. =]
I try to be proper and if I misspell things or the punctuation is not correct I will go over my text with the built in Firefox spell checker and correct what's wrong and be hopeful that it's correct.

Yeah, which is good
It doesnt bother me if spelling isnt perfect and stuff, its when they write in bad english, and then write huge paragraphs with no punctuation
Grr @ Then
I dont always write everything completely out, but i make it so it is legible and easy to understand

Unfortunately, I find the problem is often symptomatic: the worse the grammar, the less work the user is willing to do themselves when requesting "hlp me plz. it no wurk!"
These are the people who wonder why they have to put any effort into getting things they way they want them - TeamSpeak especially (offtopic: my favorite are the ones who then threaten to leave for Ventrillo, thinking it will be easier to setup - HA!).
As someone else said, it's usually a matter of laziness. It takes enough effort to type as it is. Using things like punctuation, or paragraphs, or meaningful sentances requires effort. Why bother?
Of course, when you call these people on it - watch the fireworks fly. ("Wut r u some kind of English Teacher!?!? I r not heer for typign lesson, I juz want TeamSpeak 2 wurk lol!")
Bonus Question:
Does TeamSpeak (and voice chat software in general) encourage people to be bad typists, by removing the requirement to type? Are "we" creating the very monsters we now fear? ;)

Hmm
I know when im in TS and other game chats, most of it is proper english, you get the odd 'lol' or 'OMGWTF' and similar
But it tends to be spoken english.
Unless its Chav, but we aint going there!

lol i always use slang in msn or soemthing but on forums i try my best not to.
but in school i failed my english exam because i got so used to writing with all the short cuts and then done it in school to. So now i try to write in full.
Also when your reading slang it is very hard to understand and people think you should no all of it.

Yeah, I hate them too. You could get more sense out of a LSD addict with 4 dogs humping his legs.
Foreignerdo not have to grow up experiencing slang.

True
Well, to an extent
If they spend a lot of time online using english they will pick it up
But i know from dutch/french/german people i've met, on holiday and such, they often use slang aswell...
