I had searched for a while to no avail, there just was not a full featured working TS Joomla Module ... so I wrote my own:

mh2 Design Teamspeak Module for Joomla (http://www.mh2design.com/component/option,com_docman/Itemid,4/task,cat_view/gid,4/)

I hope that people will find this useful and if there is something to enhance this module, please feel free to contact me at my site www.mh2design.com.

I'm assuming that you've used a licensed version of Zend Guard to encrypt your code.

Yes, Zend is licensed.

I am sorry for having to make another post, but the more I thought about it ... the more it bothered me.

If I am mistaken by your post, then please accept my apologies; It seems that you are insinuating that as a business I may have taken a short-cut and "stolen" a copy of a wonderful product. That is just not right. Even though there is a smiley there, it seems to be an unnecessary post.

Do I not have the right to protect my code? I write an awful lot of it and like any other coder, do not wish my hard work to be stolen, nor credit taken for the work that I performed. (unless of course it is a work-for-hire agreement)

Just because I have attempted to take steps to protect it, I do not feel it necessary for a post that brings into question my integrity. All I really want to do is put out a great product that the community desires and at the same time take the credit that I have earned.

I did not get paid to do this and yes there is a paypal button in the backend ... but it is optional.

Sorry, I didn't want to attack you with my posting. I just wondered why you've used an expensive (but great) application like Zend Guard to protect your code.

:)

Off course, you have the right to protect your own code and we appreciate your work.

Sometimes the benefits outweigh the cost. In my opinion, Zend is one of the most widely supported encoding methods and it allows more users to take advantage of the software that I release.

To give you an idea, there is approximately an 80% chance that the car you drive has been affected by at least two programs that I have written. When you think about that fact and that I can make that statement, it certainly seems that I can afford to pay for Zend ... no?

I have recently downloaded your Teamspeak module for Joomla and would like to leave a brief comment about it.

I found it to be clean and packed full of options that I have looked at from other sources but failed to find. I can see that you took a lot of time and thought when planing what admin's such as myself are looking forward to.

I look forward to more Joomla modules that you decide to release to the public.

I give it 2 thumbs up!!!!!:D

What I meant by that comment is that Chrysler is no long Chrysler. They were bought out by Daimler a while back ... I was there during that time. Did a lot of cool stuff while they were ramping up the new merged vehicles.

Alright, i understand. Ive known about that but i guess i just didnt catch the joke, sorry. Well, i guess its good to know that we didnt lose GM then. Would be bad if we had to completely close things up here in Detroit/all of Michigan, were already losing as many people as we are with how bad they are doing.

Sorry for a stupid question. To run this on my Joomla site I have to install ZendOptimizer, correct? And if I have no control of what can/can not be installed on the host, I can't use it?

Well I guess that it has to be running on the server that you have Joomla running, its a "add-on" to PHP, its has nothing to do with the TeamSpeak server. But I can be dead wrong here.

Tomas

YES, you can say it is "add-on" to the php.
and install it for ex. add some dll-s and write something to php.ini also restart apache (if php is as apache module) or not (not sure) when is it as API in apache or other webserver.

if you want it(Zend Optimizer) you should register on zend.com and after that you can download it.

Only one problem, I have my site at the web-hotel, so I can't do all that. So I guess that I can uninstall the module, can't use it, or? No other way?

I have full respect for programmer to protect his work, but this restrict the use little too much.

Zend is typically installed with PHP by your web host. As an end user, there is nothing that you have to do. Most web servers have already installed this product on their machines. Please check with your host to see if Zend is enabled.

If you use the Joomla install of the zip file, there should be no problems on a Zend enabled machine. If you are attempting to upload the files manually, you will need to transfer via binary.

I wish that there were not such people to steal the hard work of others, but as long as there are then I will continue releasing my "FREE" software as an encoded product.

I tried to install you wonderful component in my Joomla 1.012 version and get these messages:

Upload module - Upload Failed
ERROR: Could not find a Joomla! XML setup file in the package.
[ Continue ... ]

Upload module - Failed
Installation file not found:
/home/Sites/Customers/www.**********.nl/web/media/install_45f01256bf98f/
[ Continue ... ]

any idea's?

I checked the .xml file but it seems okay.
Also tried manually loading it in by uploading.

Other modules and components install perfectly

thanks

I know what the problem is..... extract the .zip file open the .xml in wordpad. Save it again as text in MS-DOS format. throw away the .xml file and rename the .txt in xml.

Zip the whole lot and try again... now it works

If you use the Joomla install of the zip file, there should be no problems on a Zend enabled machine.

But if no Zend enabled webhost then it doens't work...... and most don't.
So that's why i can't use it.... too bad though.

Interesting, I have had not one single problem or issue with this module.

My hosting provider already has Vend installed so the only thing I did was download the module and then open the back end of my Joomla installation, uploaded and installed the mod.

From there I just published it ~ it works great

I am curious why there is so much brown beating regarding a module that is "Free"

I have no explanation as to why you cannot upload and install the module. I have installed this module on quite a few different hosting providers and it goes up without a hitch.

The prescribed method of installing the package it through the Joomla backend. If you are physically uploading the files, then they MUST be uploaded via binary mode.

The XML file is an XML file, period. There should have to be no "conversion" to get it to run as it is a text file, but I do appreciate that you are looking.

As far a Zend encoding, the system comes with cPanel and Plesk (the most widely used hosting packages) as well as a multitude of others. Most hosting providers install this by default because of the number of packages that require it.

To verify the existence of Zend create a php file with the following code:

<?php
phpinfo();
?>

upload it to your server and point to that file. If your host allows the execution (depending on security) will display a slew of information.

For testing purposes - I went to a different hosting provider that I use and again followed the basic procedures of installing a module into Joomla and again I had no problems with this module.:D

Don't know what to say:confused:

I get the same problem... Can't install it through the backend in Joomla 1.0.12.

What should I look for in the PHP Info. I find a few places where it refers to Zend, but I'm not sure that is what I'm looking for.

I host my own webserver, and have not activly taken any steps to install Zend, but if it follows PHP5, then I guess it could be there

Is there any way to install the module manually?

With regards

The module is installed and working so far except the example servers we used are always showing as offline... Just wondering if you might be able to give me a server to use as an example or something... I cant understand why this isnt working the way it is designed to

Any help would be much appreciated :)
