View Full Version : Server info resets after restart (vista)

Hey all...

Don't know if this is a new problem or just me, but ever since upgrading to Vista I cannot restart my PC without having to uninstall TS Server and reinstall it.

After a restart... None of the admin / super admin passwords to see what the problem is, the server has the icon that shows that it's running but the web filter can't find it. Oh, and it never seems to make a server.log file. I save the passwords in explorer, and this time wrote them down 'old style' but the passwords are now invalid.

I've tried uninstall with windows uninstaller and also 'Your Uninstaller 2006' (the 2003 version seemed to do alot better than windows) but still I lose all the info and have to uninstall, reinstall and then recreate all the rooms/channels again.

Nothing else seems to be wrong, and it's not a problem with my client as I've connected to other servers from it. It's just that mine seems to be forgetful since the upgrade.

<Am I ranting..? I'll leave it there then>

Cheers all, any advice would be appreciated and if I've not included any releven info please check my profile and if it's not there spam me

That's been said with every release of Windows.

The fact is TS server will run perfectly well on Vista, in fact it will even run as a service:

Recommend you go this route. If the problem reoccurs, delete _everything_ about TS in your registry and directories, redownload the software, then install it again as a service.

Your "desitiny" is not to reformat and install an older OS, but to create a restore point before doing anything.

Thanks for that - I'll delete again and then do a reg-hack.... wish me luck, I've not done too many of these.

I'll let you know how I get on for anyone else who has this problem in the future

Vista makes a special thing for TS servers.
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Teamspeak2_server
Run the server as an admin.
