OK, so I just bought my new mic, and after a few problems managed to get talking on TS. Then 1 day later all of a sudden it messes up and I can't speak at all.

I can hear people speaking, I haven;t changed any settings that I am aware of after last being able to speak.

I use push-to-talk and was using the CAPS lock button in CSS the other day and tlaking to my freinds on TS fine whilst in-game.

I really could use some help as what use is a mic if you can't speak with it?!

Thanks in advance.

If you do the local test can you hear yourself?

Yes, I can hear myself perfectly fine with the local test.

I also do have AV and V rights on the server.

Do they have their headphones muted?

Nope, I can hear them perfectly fine

Everything on your end sounds like it is working. Only if you have a mute button on your headphones that you might have accidentally pressed it should work.

Hello guys,

I am adding my problem to this thread, since it is almost the same thing :

Until yesterday everything worked fine with my microphone in TS, but now it simply won't work :

when I am speaking, people don't hear from me. Everything is default, I do not use a button to activate talking, the button does not light up, i did not change any codec or whatever.

In games like dod:source, people hear me fine.
In windows the mic is also fine, i did a test of the device and I can speak and hear me well.

The strange thing is that if I press the headers towards my ears, they can hear me a little, but not that much. So there can be a problem of short-circuit, but why doesn't it happen in game ?

thx for help if somebody did have the same problem.

Start>Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Controls>Advanced>Options>Propertes>Recording(Make sure all boxes are ticked)>OK>Tick the One for microphone.

Make sure the volume is all the way up and you might want to try enabling mic boost.

Right, I think I have figured out the problem but not fixed it.

I have 2 different sound cards installed on my machine.

1. SoundBlaster Audidgy
2. RealTek (default)

I think there is some confliction with the two soundcards and the settings I have have crossed at some point. I have made sure that my jacks are plugged into the RealTek soundcard. I think(!) I have adjusted the settings all for the RealTek one, so by rights it should still work, but it doesn't so I'm obviously missing something.

I was wondering if I should un-install my SoundBlaster card as that is the only one I have drivers and installation disks for, so if needs be I can re-install it safely again.

If anyone could walk me through this, or tell me if I am on the right sort of tracks I would be immensely grateful.

You can disable Your Audigy card in Device Manager (not need to uninstall it)
Rclick "My Computer" - select "Manage" (4th option from top of context menu)
There, go to device management and look for Your Audigy card
You probably have more than one device from it (I.e. main PCI sound device, SoundBlaster legacy emulation, and so on...) select one which clearly identified as main device.. and disable it. It may ask You to reboot. Do it.
After that, You should see only one available sound device - Your onboard RTL chip.

Ok i've tried to activate voice by pressing a button and it works.

So voice activation does not work for me... strange !

Sry Alba for messing up your thread.

Now I've disabled the RealTek card and I prefer it this as I didn't spend £15 for a SoundBlaster card to not be doing anything whereas the RealTek card was for free, also there is only the option of SoundBlaster as my sound card and the jacks are in the correct fittings on the card.

I still see no reason why this shouldn't work, as I said it was working fine about a week ago my first time using it.
