I have one user who is experiencing massive background noice or static or whatever you want to call it.
Here is what has happened with this user so far:
He first logged onto my server with no mic, just speakers. He could hear me just fine, but I was getting my own voice echoed back to me quite loudly. It was not the kind of echo loop you get from having a mic too close to your speakers and having voice activation on. In addition to my echo, I could also hear default waves when he typed on keyboard and then I also heard his music playing when he turned it on. We pinpointed this problem to a "line in" issue. He muted "line in" and the echo, keystrokes, and music went away.
Then he got a headset and the echo came back, but along with it was an extreme amount of noise. to the point where I can't really hear him unless he talks very loud. We again fiddled with the master volume controls and managed to get rid of the echo or at least reduce it, and if he leaves his settings on "push to talk" then I don't have to hear static all the time, but when he pushes to talk, I hear tons of static and can hardly hear him now.
System:
Microsoft Windows XP
Home Edition
Version 2002
Service Pack 2
Computer:
Intel(R)
Pentium(R) 4 cpu 2.40GHz
2.40GHz, 504 MB of RAM
Audio Device:
Realtek AC'97 Audio
Please give any and all suggestions...This is so frustrating I'm willing to try anything, even if I already have.:p
