View Full Version : moved server, cant connect administration
Hey i moved my server around in my house, now its on a small server pc instead of my own pc.
Now i cant acces the administraion page on the web.. i used to use http:\\localhost: (dont know number out of my head) and its running on win 2000.
i also cant find a firewall (cant even remember if 2000 had one)
everything in the router is done, i can acces my server.
Just to make sure.
Are you typing that address on the computer that is running the server? OR on another computer on the network?

Win2k not have complete built-in firewall, only sample packet filter.
You may use any 3rd-party firewall software. I.e. Sunbelt (Kerio) Personal Firewall (http://www.sunbelt-software.com/Home-Home-Office/Sunbelt-Personal-Firewall/Download/) (if You have Win2k Pro version) which is good for novice admins - very friendly and strong.
To access Your server web interface from Your workstation, You should type that computer name instead of "localhost".
I.e. if You name it "myserver", type http://myserver:...

AWSOME it worked thanks allot, but another question.
if i want to acces the page outside my own network, what will be the link?? i cant figue that out either -_-
like my server is at home, and i want to acces it from school in another town/city..
Then make sure to forward the ports to the correct server. The lan IP of the computer running the TS server. Most likely it starts off 192.168.x.x
The default ports are UDP 8767 for being able to log on the server with the TS client for voice.
TCP 14534 is used for the webadmin and TCP51234 is for telnet. The telnet port you might want to keep closed until you have a better understanding of TS servers.

This is just a general rule of thumb for running any server inside a LAN. IF your router and firewalls are properly configured, just remember that configuring those means any connections coming in on those ports will be redirected to the ip: 192.168.x.xxx
So if the server you are running asks you to type in a ip for it to use (teamspeak doesnt do that) put in the 192.168.x.xxx ip, because that is the ip the connections are redirected to!:)
alright thanks, it worked for me, but something els.
this morning i woke up and my server got hacked, me and my friends got banned, and the server got cleaned.
now the lucky part is that i simply could log in as SA on the web, unbann us, and replace the server files with the old ones. so everything is ok now..
but i wonder how they managed to do all this stuff.. i mean they changed Server name and channels.. what ways could he have used to do this??

BTW i used that firewall u reccomended me, and it works like a dream thanks very much.
Make sure your server is up to date. You might want to make sure to block your telnet port 51234 TCP, and allow it to only people you trust.

You can prevent this in the future by limiting the Server Admins capabilities. Because im sure you use super admin to edit your server. So make it so SA cannot start/stop server, change server name or welcome message, cannot change permissions, and cannot create channels! :D
a well its alright now, but now ive installted that firewall, and everything was right. people could connect and stuff, and the firewall was configurated,or saying, allow what to connect and not to connect and what to connect to the outside and not.. firewall installed for 5 hours.. all went well... and sudently, people codunt connect anymore.. chekked my firewall, still everything alright, all the same no changes.. still no1 could connect.. i dunno what i did wrong :\
so now i have disabled the firewall... so my server itself is running on win2k pro with no firewall :\ dunno if that is not recommended. (its still behind a router firewall though)
Forward only the UDP port 8767 and you should be fine.
already done that, and for the other server im running as well...
