Okay, i just got ubuntu a couple of days ago, i can barely manage the terminal, and im a complete noob at programing. I am not getting completely into Ubuntu yet due to the fact of a lot of programs that run only on linux. One of wich Teamspeak. So now that i got some free time i want to find out how to make all this programs work on ubuntu.

The question is, how do i get TS working on linux? i got the file, btw.

You have a package manager, use it and you would have found:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/feisty/net/teamspeak-client

sudo aptitude install teamspeak-client

or you can use apt-get if you want.
Just type that into the comandline.

sudo apt-get install teamspeak-client....

Couldn't find package teamspeak-client.

I've updated apt-get and even tried aptitude and the add/remove app program but can't find the package.

How do you enable universe for apt-get if that is the proble.

Ok, I'll be honest. I've read over all these pages and it quite honestly scares the bejeves out of me. I'm a noob at Ubuntu but want to give it a try, and installing TeamSpeak I figured would be a good thing. I read what other people posted about mySQL's (what ever that is:confused:) and FreeBSD's (again, what ever that is ...) and I did manage to (from the terminal) install (i think) the TS. I used that command" sudo aptitude install teamspeak-client ". A whole bunch of stuff went racing across my screen. It even looked like it downloaded something. No idea what I just did.:o So.... what did I do right? What did I do wrong? I don't see an icon for TS on the desk top (BTW I do love the wobbly, multi desktop windows thingy...:) )
ANY guidance would be helpful. As in ...Type this in you dolt...' ~~~~~' that I can understand. I've read so much but not putting it together yet. Should it be this hard?

I feel so stupid....
I just found the TS installed (not sure if it works yet ) under the 'Internet' under the Applications tool bar....Wow how much of a Noob I am..:D The " sudo aptitude install teamspeak-client " seems to have done it all. now time to give it a run and see what ever else I'll learn.

Hello am SP33dy I been windows user over 9 years, till now i decided to use ubuntu..
I play a Quake 3 game Mod first person shooter called Urbanterror :o I had intalled teamspeak and join servers, but when i try to comunicate , theres no sound out, but i was able to listen..well tht is one thing..

Heres the real thing when i lunch the game to play and i have turn on teamspeak thers no sound on teamsapeak , I cant listen. I download alsa and Installed, I was able to listen on both now, [urbanterror and teamspeak]... But I was not able to talk I FOUND A LINK HERE..http://quail.southernvaleslug.org/webblog/archives/71

and here's the notes ..

For the people that want to run TeamSpeak and Urban Terror together on the one machine here is quick howto to stop TeamSpeak hogging the audio.

1) You need to install alsa-oss

sudo apt-get install alsa-oss

2) goto Applications => Internet, right click on TeamSpeak and add launcher to Panel or Pesktop
3) Right click on the TeamSpeak launcher on Panel or Desktop and goto Properties => Launcher
4) In the command section add ‘aoss‘ in front of ‘teamspeak‘, eg - ‘aoss teamspeak‘
5) close the Properties window and launch TeamSpeak from your modified launcher

enjoy :-)

Now i can hear and play with sound but i cant talk Can any one Help me please!!!! :(

I did all that thank to mattew, am sry for my bad english...

I installed the client, but can't get sound to work. Although nothing about sound in Linux is easy, I get sound in other applications.

I tried closing all other applications that might use the sound card, but still no use. Tried setting TS2 to the other dsp devices.

If there is a howto that goes beyond getting the program installed, I would appreciate a link.

And if any moderators feel they want to send me the TS3 alpha, I would love to try it. I read that it has ALSA support and should be 64-bit compatible. Maybe that would do the trick.
