Once You have Your TS working with MySQL, there are no real difference between local and remote database (I have it using remote DB).

The only problem, i believe, is if say you are trying to use a free mysql host or similar, that doesnt let you have persistant connections

As far as i remember from reading somewhere, TS needs a persistant mysql connection
