View Full Version : mic input mixed with ingame sounds
hello,
i am using TS2 2.0.32.60 for communication in "IL2 Sturmovik 1946" game. my maiboard has onboard sound, which i use to plug the microphone in. to hear sounds i use desktop speakers or headset. TS2 works perfectly well until i am in game. if i am in the game and hit "transmit" button to send my voice over, than other guys receive my voice plus all ingame sounds. this happens even if i use headset, so literally no other sounds except my voice are heared in the room. if i press "transmit" button and say no word, still ingame sounds go through TS2.
i have only one mic in comp. mic is "muted" in sound mixer. in TS2 under "settings/options/sound devices" i am using "wave" and only one input device "Realtek HD Audio Input". outside the game if i check "settings/sound input/output settings", "push to talk", "Test Codec CELP 5.1 Kbit", "activate local test mode" - all works perfect.
any suggestions how can i stop ingame sound get transmitted?
thanks a lot,
et.

not to be rude, but "may be, read?: mic is "muted" in sound mixer.
problem is: game sounds are transmitted to TS2 even if i keep my mouth shut and use headset speakers to listen.

Maybe search again? Find something like recording device.
It has been asked before.
How close is your mic to you headphones. I something have that happen to me when my mic is at high sensitivity and my volume is up.

mic is quite close to the headphones, true.. may be i need another headset..
Try muting your headphones and then see if you can talk without any game sounds coming through.
found your reply:
Start>Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Controls>Advanced>Options>Propertes>Recording(Make sure all boxes are ticked)>OK>Tick the One for microphone.
You most likely have sound out or "What you hear" option as the recording device. I use it sometimes as a way to stream music across TS.
i made some screenshots. the settings are in german, but still one can recognize what is what:

i may be dumb, but i see nowhere "what you hear option"...
found the solution:
For those of you with onboard sound provided by Gigabyte M/Board using Realtek HD Audio:
*Open the Realtek GUI and select the Mixer tab.
*In the Record section, mute the Stereo Mix button.

The reason that I did not post was because the windows one can only do one at a time. Send information from the what the computer creates or from the mic.
The next step if you were still transmitting from the sound when you muted your headphones was that I was going to ask if you had another program for sound if you had your tried fixing broken headphones. ;) Obviously you had another program for sound. I just need to remember to ask that first the next time that someone has a good sound card as they most of the time come with software.

For Realtek onboard open your Sound Manager and goto the SPDIF tab and select: "output digital only".
When I had WinXP I had to do this every new driver I got. No Stereo Mix, no muted mic worked at all for what the OP is experiencing.
"Output Digital Only" from withing Soundman(Realtek Sound Manager). Some of the older XP drivers are missing the SPDIF tab that has this option there...which is why I just signed up...read below.
I need this option in Vista32 and the current Realtek driver does not have it. But it will fix the OP's problem.
