Trying to get people to connect to my WAN IP to get onto TS.
I can use my LAN IP fine.

I'm at my goddamn wit's end with guides telling me to set up a Static IP first, or to do this, or that. I DON'T UNDERSTAND. I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THIS CRAP. Until tonight i didn't even know this bloody thing was called a Router. I've followed the Static IP Setup guide on Portforward.com, i've followed the Port Forwarding guide for my Router (DG834GT) and still NOTHING.

I had it before, it worked fine. I Switch to this piece of crap that i have now and nothing happens.

Someobdy help me, I have McAfee Security Center and yes, i've allowed everything on there. I even turned the damn thing off for a while to check if it was that and it's not.

I've completely undone any static IP crap or router port forwarding changes i made, because i don't udnerstand what the hell i'm doing to my connection when i change them.

I'm not interested in www.portforwarding.com or whatever it is. I tried that. It didn't work.
Somebody PLEASE explain how to set up a Static IP and Forward some goddamn ports so i can talk to my friends on a perfectly simple voice chat program which should NOT require THREE HOURS of IP configuration and farting about with router settings.

I know it's nothing to do with Teamspeak and it's all my router's inner working screwing me over, but it's annoying the hell out of the nontheless. Somebody help me.

Do you have dsl? If so what is the model of your modem.

This is the best for forwarding ports.
http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Netgear/DG834GT/TeamSpeak.htm

Just make sure that you forward it to the right lan ip for the "send to lan server"

Windows comes with a default firewall and it is not always shut down when you install a 3rd party firewall. It could be that both are up. Make sure that all of you firewalls are shut down and that mcafee is completely not running on your machine. If you get green checks with your firewall off here (http://ts2test.planetteamspeak.com/?page=step1) then you have configured your router correctly.

I followed that guide you posted. But after about 3 hours of trying to set up port forwarding and a static IP it didn't work.

Also, like i said, i'm not particularly techy, so i have no idea which is my 'right' LAN IP

Nope. Still red X's without either firewalls on.

I'll try following that guide again later on from scratch and see if it makes any sense when it's not 1 AM :P

OK. Managed to get the server up and running. All green checks on the test page.

However, my friend can't connect ot the server. Same router/internet provider as me, so presumably everything is being blocked like it was for me. Does he have to go through all the stuff i did just to connect to my server?

I've got a different friend to join and he can connect fine. IT's just my other friend who has a Netgear router like me. My model number is DG834GT(presumably he has same model, since it was supplied by Sky.)

His borther also can't connect, but it seems that anyone not with a Netgear Router can.

Some netgear routers have firewalls, if he is blocking the port it uses then he will have to change the setting.

If one man can connect to You, that means others can connect too.

by change the setting do you mean he'll have to port forward UDP 8767, and the two TCP ports? Because he's not all that tech-savvy and i feel i'd just lose him explaining how.

Or would it just be changing the settings on Norton? (which is the Firewall he uses)

He needs to allow the TS client to access the internet. He does not need any port forwarding as he is not hosting anything.

(not posted for a while, been busy with work :S)
Thing is, his Teamspeak Client can access the internet, because he can access other Teamspeak Servers with little or no trouble at all.

What address are they using?

Ask them to set ts in debug mode and post the log here.
