View Full Version : I was Channel Admin, now just Registered
Hi,
I've created a channel on a free TS server and I was ChanAdmin for that channel automaticaly, of course. After I kicked myself, I was switched by the TS server into some public channel, then I tried to switch back to my channel and when I did, I was only having mode R (Registered), without CA (chan admin).
I am using my registered nick, the channel is registered too. I'm not server admin since it's a free TS server, of version: 2.0.23.17
Please help :)

That's quite normal. If you get kicked out of a channel you loose your ca rights even if you kicked yourself.
Well, since it is normal :) and I was the only Chan Admin of that channel, how can I regain my rights or how can I delete/recreate the channel?
To be quite honest, nothing there is normal from my point of view.. If you kick CA user, shouldn't it just kick him off the channel and not remove any rights he/she has for that channel...?

Kicking is a punishment. You kick people when they do wrong. You do not want a wrong doing CA, do ya?
Only way to regain CA is for an SA to give you the permission.
That's all cool from your point of view, but looking, for ex. at the other similar community services like IRC chat or something similar, you will not find such a 'functionality'..
Anyway, since the developers were thinking it would be a cool feature to revoke all the rights from a kicked person, shouldn't those same developers first check if that person is the only CA for that channel and then revoke its rights? :)
This way or another, I just wanted to point out that this is certainly some kind of a buggy 'feature' that should be corrected. Now it depends on developers, do they think the same..

There are still SA's that are in the server and there permissions are not lost when they are kicked only CA. They reason why I would believe that it is done for CA as a CA is not much. You can tell from amount of permissions that they are granted.
The only time that, in your case, where someone creates a channel and becomes the only CA has a problem with there being no CA is left, is when the SA revokes the rights, you revoke your own rights, or you kick yourself.
Just do not kick yourself the next time.
