You gave them the wrong IP.. The IP you gave them is your Network IP..
You have to share your WAN IP and make sure you forward the right ports in your router..
www.portforward.com
Look on that page for your IP:
Having problems forwarding ports on your router?
Check out PFConfig.
Your external IP address is xx.xxx.xxx.xxx.
Then continue to guides and find your router brand and model.
Oh okay, well on my little server box, it says "your ip's" and only shows 3 numbers to start with. I'm not too good with this stuff yet, but i'm learning. Where can i find the WAN IP?
Thanks
Ryan

okay, i looked up my wan IP and im still getting the same number. Now my computer i am using right now is wireless to the router. I don't know how i am supposed to find the first 2 numbers. all i seem to find is 3 numbers: 209.89.34.233

That oughta be your WAN IP then.
But if you want to host wireless expect everyone to A. Not beeing able to connect or B. Having tremendous bad quality / skipping voices..
Wireless is no good option for hosting, better put a cable between the server and router there.
About the IP's, the octets ( the numbers separated by the .'s ) will vary in either 2 or 3 digits for private use.
okay, do you think if i was to put the server on my main computer which has the router, that it may work then? because if thats the case that wont be much of a problem.
thanks,
Ryan
You WANT it to be connected wired to the router. A lot less problems.
okay so i know have a server running on the main computer which is wired to the router. and i have a different ip. this time it is still 2 different IP addresses, but now for this computer it says 192.168.0.100. After that i made a server with that IP with port number 156. but still noone can seem to access it. any ideas now?

On the PC you have the 192.xx's adress.
Write that down or remember it.. Then go to your router setup screen and go to virtual network or port forwarding whatever its called.
For the best solution go to www.portforward.com and find your router brand and model under guides. Then when you clicked on your type find the teamspeak guide and follow those steps.
okay, you lost me now. I dont know where i can find my router settings. see im used to using wireless and not exactly wired to the routers. I have a D-Link Wireless Router. Model number DI-524.

Check your ISP Manual.. Maybe they changed the default..
Which in most cases could be
username:admin
password:admin
or
username:admin
password: password

username:user
password: ( nothing )
Came across some that use this..

Whats your IP and port? If you dont wanna make it public PM me. Lets see if this can be fixed.
my Wan IP is 142.59.178.186
and the UDP port currently is 8767
I have forwarded UDP 8767 on my router..

Weird, it doesnt work..
Have you checked firewalls?
I thought DLink had one in the router also.. And the windows firewall.
Thats the only thing i can come up with now.
Very,
It might have a firewall. Im not sure if it already has one in it. I'll check that out and see if thats the problem..
What LAN IP did you forward to?
Its forwarded to my WAN IP.

^^ Router settings: Forward Port to Internal IP + Port..
See www.portforward.com
WAN IP is what the visitors have to type in there adress field..
Havent seen this one yet.. :D
LOL
woops
i thought on the port forward guide it said to forward it to WAN IP.
LOL
i'll try it with my internal ip now and get back to you.
P.s sorry lol i'm still learning about it all :P
okay, heres what i have set in my router right now. I checked and my internal IP is 192.168.0.102 then it said 192.168.0.1/24 so i put the router as 192.168.0.1/24 . I'm not sure what ip to forward to. neither of them seem to work.
Port 8767 UDP to 192.168.0.1/24
Port 14345 UDP to 192.168.0.1/24
and the last port for Ts set as TCP on 192.168.0.1/24
:S
lol
Eventually.
Put
192.168.0.102 for the lan ip.
lol i'm trying :P
Thank you!
it now works and i think people can connect.
Thanks for all your help everyone. I really appreciate it.
Thank you:D
Ryan.
