View Full Version : Randomly Can't Connect...

Hi, I've been running a TeamSpeak server for a few years and everything has been great, however, fairly recently people who have always been able to connect suddenly aren't able to... I'm running the server on a spare linux box I have that's running Ubuntu. It's really strange because the people who can't connect will be able to connect at other times and when one of my friends can't connect, my other friends won't have any problem... It seems like it's completely random. I'm behind a D-link router but I have all the ports open (8767, 51234, and 14534), even though I don't think the last two are needed... Any help will be much appreciated. :)

Alright... I was finally able to find something that might help. I don't know why I didn't see this before, but whatever...
Here's the Link (http://www.teamspeak.com/?page=faq&cat=server#some_people_cannot_connect)
However, if I set the BoundToIp1 to my external IP the server won't start. I get the error saying that there is an instance of TeamSpeak already running even though there isn't. If I leave it blank or set it to my internal IP, TeamSpeak boots up fine...
UPDATE: Figured out what the problem was. There was no ServerUDPPort=8767 in my server.ini file.

Nevermind... That didn't fix it, it's back to how it was before.... I ran the connection test, which I completely passed before, and it's saying that it can't reach my UDP port, but it's open and hasn't been touched for months... Some people can connect, some can't. Does anyone have any idea why it's doing this?! This is exetremelyfrustrating!
In most cases it is a firewall problem. Sometimes the servers and sometimes the clients firewalls.

Is there something that the clients can do so they will be able to connect?
UPDATE: I ran the TeamSpeak connection test again today and it's still saying that it can't reach the UDP port. So I went and checked and it's open. One of my friends and I are able to connect but not my two other friends...

I would be curious to see if those users that can't connect have recently installed Service Pack 1 for vista. For some unknown reason since I installed service pack one all incoming UDP packets have been blocked, regardless of firewall/router settings.
I have been able to connect with my vista ultimate sp1 64 bit to a host that is vista business no sp yet 32 bit.

Only one of the people that have been trying to connect has Vista, but they do have SP1.

Yeah its probably not Vista SP1 then, however I have the same issue that since I installed it I can't connect to some TS servers, thought it might have been related.
the ones at zebgames.com are fine, others.. not so much...

If I make a change to my server configuration file and then run the connection test it will pass everything and be fine, but after awhile if I run the connection test again it will say that it can't reach my UDP port. However, i have a website that has a TS Viewer which always works, even when the connection test says it can't connect to my UDP port...
Tsviewer uses the tcp query port.

Oh, well that explains that...
