Using the Nforce2 chipset (Asus A7N8Xdeluxe) that has the Nforce MCP audio onboard. Works fine, but hogs sound away from game.
at least i can hear what teamates are saying.

I've had in-game sound cut out on me completely, yet TS still seems to work fine.

I tried adding in a SB Audigy card and help relieve the CPU from doing the double duty work w/ the onboard. Dedicating the TS to the onboard and setting the in-game sound to use the Audigy. Same problem occurs.

Guess i'm saying that TS is working better than most of my games do, as far as sound handling goes.

as to your Q: high noise level.......
most of the time this occurs because of an improper ground somewhere. not always necc. because of something you did, the grounding problem may lie in the mobo itself. (I've had that happen, it was just a shitty board and i had to have it replaced.)
but make sure to check all your ground points, and seating of the mobo.

heh, my mobo and whole case is perfectly grounded*, it has separate *ground system*, hardware is perfectly, eg. when i'm recording from mic - it's perfecty clean sound but when TS is running teh noise occures... this some codecs compatibility or sth.
i found other posts where people are repoting lot of problems with ac97 soundcards.

*,** sorry 4 my eng. :D its v.poor :P

Seems when TS is on the game sound either goes bad and sounds wierd or cuts out all together.

I've read a few posts here...

I don't seen any responces?

Do they e-mail the responce?

I downloaded the new bios revision and installed.
even though it says nothing about changing sound, it cured it.
now the ingame sound seems to stay stable......well at least until i've played for a few hours....then the whole system just gets hot enough to fry eggs on and all kinds of weirdo stuff occurs.....but that's a seperate issue.......i need a vapochill case for this box.
