View Full Version : linux ts3 feature request/questions
I have several questions/requests...
here goes:
1. will ts3 support jack or pulseaudio ?
One of the big issues is ts likes to lock the sound device.... It'd be nice to be able to hook it up to either of these multiplexers instead of using the aoss kludge. Pick one both or the other 8)
2. will ts 3 support multiple sound devices?
Will I be able to take input from one sound card and send the output to another, like I can with windows?
Implementing these features would make TS as useful on linux as it is on windows...

Hi,
(1) I have successfuly used TS3 with Jack. We have not (and do not plan to, not before release anyway) added any native jack code, but since we use alsa it works.
(2) Yes, that works fine.
*SWEET*
Thx for responses; I can't wait :D

You'll be waiting a longggg time lol.
I'm not trying to cause trouble lol, I LOVE teamspeak. I absolutely love it, although for the time being, i do use ventrilo (quality issues in matches, vent seems to handle the speex codec better than TS2, which sucks). I beg for a release within the next 2 months lol.
I also have a question, though.
Please tell me you'll have a more neutral "vent like" or "TS1" like interface, instead of purple? Anything but purple lol. Oh and will it support speex?
It will support speex as there are threads about them using the lastest speex codecs.

Anything but purple lol.As you can read in the developer blog, the GUI of the TS3 client can be completely customized using Lua scripting capabilities and Qt's Widget Stylesheets which are very similar to CSS.
One of the primary reasons why my friends and I have avoided TS was the Player Joined/Left things. You never knew who it was that was joining or leaving, etc. That and the codecs are horrible.
I agree that Player Joined and Player Left are no good. Using the built in Speech that comes with Windows (XP, Vista, etc) allows people to enter TTS for their phonetic names and more.
I would suggest that upon going this route, allow only a-z and maybe the numbers, this way you don't have anyone connecting with [ ] [ ] [ ] etc.
I also hope the betas will be open to the public.
I have a suggestion . Perhaps it already work on ts2 but i don t how to do it ( if it work ).
I create a afk channel . I made some subchannel like bed,tv,away,....
So i want that we can't go to the channel but only in subchannel?
Can you do this on ts3?
