View Full Version : Ubuntu 7.1 fails to work almost entirely...
Noticed lots of problems with Ubuntu and teamspeak. just recently got ubuntu, am running temspeak on a LAN, and i had the other computer try to send sound to this one through teamspeak, but no goes. The light didn't even light up. Read a bunch of posts, but got nothing. Any ideas?
SOLUTION: So far, i've noticed that it does work (havn't fully tested it though, but getting sound from others is good) it in wine much better than the linux build when working with Ubuntu.

If I understand you right your not able to hear any sound, right?
Well first of all make sure nothings using the sound device. Like if your listen to music in the background while using TeamSpeak. TeamSpeak needs direct access to the sound device called oss, if any other program is using it TeamSpeak won't work.
If you want a solution to this problem look at my post in this (http://forum.teamspeak.com/showthread.php?t=41082) thread.
It's my understanding that TeamSpeak uses OpenAL and OpenAL uses oss which in my opinion is a bad idea, so it's not TeamSpeaks fault, it's OpenAL's. :)
Well hope that helps. :)
By the way I have TeamSpeak running right now on my computer(Ubuntu 7.10 32bit) and listening to music. So I think it works really well on Ubuntu. :)
edit:
Well It look like I was wrong as I've said in a lot of threads. I thought I had it working with alsa-oss then it just got buggy again :( Sorry.
Do you know about the TS client that is Debian repository?
