Teamspeak version: 2.0.32.60

Operation System: Service Packs 1, Windows Vista 32 Bit

Soundcard & Driver version: Intel High Definition Audio - with Sigma Tel Definition Audio CODEC v6.10.0.5609

Game: America's Army 2.8.3.01

Error message: No Error Message

When it happens: Every time I try to use Team speak

What did you try to fix the problem?
I have tried messing around with all of the stuff under the settings tab, like switching to wave.
I experience a constant static noise which is really loud for other people on team speak but not as loud for me. When I try switch the CODEC, the static is louder than the default one; 5.1kbit. It is not the mic because this is the second one that I have bought and I am experiencing the same problem.
Thanks for your help in advance.

Is your output volume too high?

Do you have the mic unmuted for playback?

No, my output volume is set at normal and the playback is not muted.
When I used the micrsoft sound recorder, it proves that the mic works fine but there is a little background noise, like quiet buzzing.
On teamspeak, when I don't push to talk, everything works fine. When I do, they get the loud clicking and static noise but I can still hear them fine.
I am hearing the same noise that they hear but it is only quiet background noise.
When I do the test, I get the loud clicking noises sometimes and background static.
Do you think that it is the mic for the second time and that there is a kink in the cord?
The brands are Logitech and Genius for about 20 to 30 dollars each, so they are cheap ones.
The sound card that I am using, have there been any know problems with it in regards to teamspeak?

Meant the mic SHOULD be muted in the playback controls.

In the playback device, there is no mic to be muted. Only in the recording is there a mic and if I mute that, I won't hear anything.
My headset is USB.

Double click speakers>levels check what is muted and what is not muted.

I was testing my mic again this morning and it worked for a minute or two, then it went completely haywire again.

I'm having a similar problem in Vista also - I am getting a huge feedback noise using PTT making comms fairly impossible. I don't have the option to mute the mic playback like in XP

Which codec are you using for TS?

jaminmcbride

CELP 5.1 Kbit
When using CELP Windows 5.2Kbit, the static is the quietest with CELP 5.1Kbit being the second and the rest progressively louder.

Last night, I was able to talk on teamspeak again for a few minutes of talk time before it went to static again. Not sure if this helps.

Try a higher codec and/or speex codec.

Well, it seems to be working which shocks me because I thought that I had already tried this and it didn’t work. I am using the highest codec and I have been testing it for a few minutes with still no static. I will write another post in a few days to confirm whether this was a temporary thing or if it really works. Thanks for all of your help, much appreciated.

Ok, I can now use my mic for only a little bit before it goes crazy with static. So far the only way I have found to fix that is to restart teamspeak and it will only work for a few minutes everytime. I am also not sure if changing the codec helps because it was able do this before I changed the codec.

I fixed it for real now. I had to switch back to direct sound and use a higher codec. Again, thanks for your help.
