I have been running a TS server for a few years now. I have a Netgear WPN824v2 router up to date with the latest firmware and have Comcast Cable internet running on a Windows XP Pro PC that basically all it does is host my TS server and is sometimes used as a backup gaming system when I have guests over.

I have the ports forwarded correctly and the server works great. However after a while people cannot connect. If people were in the server they are fine, but if they quit out and try to re-connect they get "bad response from server." Anyone inside the network can still connect, and I check to make sure this external IP hasn't changed. The internal IP is static and does not change. Restarting the server process doesn't work, restarting the computer with TS Server on it, doesn't work. I have to power cycle the modem and router and then they can connect fine again. I have messed with ports and triggering and maximum connections to a windows XP Pro box, thinking maybe the connections are not decaying.

I am out of ideas on this and don't want to have to buy a new router if possible. As it is it has become a ritual that before a friday night session of gaming the router gets restarted, however when I am out of town I end up out of luck and is extremely annoying to keep having to reset it.

I have read quite a bit of the forums and tried some of the suggestions like the boundtoip with no luck. Any info would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

You pretty much have to complain to the netgear. My router has problems with FTP where I have to reset to connect.

Please find out, what exactly messing Your things - modem or router (if that's two different devices).
And then poke the respective support line to find out if that's a common problem for all series, or just Your unit problem. (But I've hear that Netgear have leaking problem with firmware...)
