Hello,
I've tried all the solutions that I've found in the archives so far, but still seem to have the same problem.

It's an echo that occurs in game (Red Orchestra through Steam). My clanmates say that I'm echoing rather badly. I don't hear it in game. However, when I go to the TS control panels and do the Local Test Mode, the echoing is apparent.

Core 2 Due, 2 GB ram
Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit
SigmaTel (?) on board audio sound card (Dell Computer)
Teamspeak 2 2.0.33.7
Logitech Headphone/speakers (Dell speakers also, but not used with TS)

I'm currently:
Running TS as Administrator in Win XP compatibility mode
All other recording devices are disabled (mixer control panel)
Voice and activation levels are midpoint settings
I've tried all the Codecs, but GSM 16.4kbit seems to work best (though still with echo)
If I use key activation, the problem can be diminished IF I only use short statements. Seems if I leave the the mic on (or use voice activation) the echo appears (note that even though the mic is open, there is no input showing from me on the TS panels after I have finished speaking)

I've tried Direct Sound and Wave options, but the result is the same (Direct Sound is better quality)
Sound Quality setting is set to High
And I have Forced 8 Bit recording to see if that matter - same

It seems to me to be a feedback loop that is software generated. I've run out of ideas. Can anyone help?

Regards,
Robert

Hey Robert
Do you by chance have your speakers on also, or are you listening through a headset/mic setup. I'm experiencing this with one player in our group using speakers no matter how low he sets the volume on the speakers.

Hi Jim. Thanks for the reply. As a matter of fact, my speakers are on. Even though they go "mute" when I plug in the USB headphones/mic they are still technically on.

I'm away from my computer for awhile (4 wks to be exact) so I will have to wait and try this when I get home. Hopefully that will work. Incidentally, another guy posted on our clan forum with the same problem. He also uses Logitech head/mic so hopefully it's not that.

BKHai, thanks for your help as well. I have gone in to the mixer several times to try suggested fixes. Unfortunately Windows Vista Home Premium has a very horrible mixer interface. Anyway, I will try your suggestions should the speaker fix not work. Incidentally, calling another poster an "idiot" is a little self defeating :D

lol The echo problem is one of the easiest things to solve as it is strictly settings and can be solved if you take the time to think about it. That is why I called him an idiot.

OS settings causing echos:
1: If you hear your self even when not in TS that means that you need to mute the mic from the playback settings.

2 error: If you hear a repeating echo when you are doing the local test then that means that:
your recording device is picking up on the sounds that are coming out of your speakers
-or-
you need to untick/disable the stereo mix settings.

3 error: You are in TS and connected to a server. You hear your voice only once when you and someone else's "green Light" lights up whenever you are talking then that means that you do not have a problem. The other person has a problem. Their problem is most likely the 2nd one of the possible errors listed.
