View Full Version : Out of ideas
I don't even know if this is where this is supposed to go, or if it will do any good. But this is the last chance we have.
We have been subject to a group of hackers on our teamspeak known as r00tgroup. They hacked our teamspeak the night previous. We eventually settled things, or so we thought, and they returned our teamspeak back to us.
Up until ten minutes ago things were settled and we were rebuilding our section. Next thing I know players were getting kicked left and right, and my IP became banned. They had held us hostage the night prior, asking for this and that in order to get our TS back. Including the right to have and hack our website, which we refused.
Tonight they decided to go back on their word of peace entirely, and banned the entire teamspeak all over again. The only link they left behind was the link to their teamspeak. I tried to go and speak with them, to which they just laughed at me and fairly well called us all stupid.
I am fairly certain in some manner this is illegal and against TeamSpeak rules and protocol. We just want our teamspeak back and for these guys to leave us alone. But with them banning every single one of us, we are incapable of doing anything.
So if someone knows anything...where we can go, what we have to do in order to report these people...help us out. We are a peaceful group and these individuals decided to take advantage of that. We just want it to /stop/ for good.
Thank you.

I'll try to make some common sense suggestions to you Zexnon...
First of all, I'd suggest that you get all the information you have together about these incidents... You should be able to make a stab at answering the questions below.
Who is responsible for the attack - Their online handles, ip addresses, ISPs (you can figure this out by using tools like tracert or a website like this (http://whatismyipaddress.com/)).
Why are they attacking you - Are they a group who attacks servers? Do they have a grudge against you? (there may be no reason)
Where are they attacking you from - IP addresses, names of their ISPs (same as the first item)
Other evidence such as server logs, packet captures (if you have control of the entire server, you should install a packet capture program like Wireshark or Microsoft Network Monitor to capture the packets that the attackers send), ip addresses will also help who ever investigates this attack. You could also use some basic tools to get an idea of who is attacking you. Such as tracing their ip address to a geographical location using a website like this (http://whatismyipaddress.com/).
Now, who should you contact to figure this out? If your TS server is hosted, contact your hosting provider.
If you have a dedicated server and it's hosted in a datacenter, call them and see if they'll take care of it for you.
In either hosted case, they should be able to help you with the problem.
If your hosting provider can take care of it for you, great. If your TS server isn't hosted or they can't / won't help you, you'll have to contact law enforcement. If your located in the US, you might want to read this (http://http://www.cybercrime.gov/reporting.htm#cc) page to figure out which law enforcement agency you should contact.
Investigation is all well and good, but in reality, it takes a while, and you need your server back. Therefore, I'll make some technical suggestions...
They are getting into your server somehow. Before you point the finger at a TS vulnerability, please check some basics.
Have you checked that all your admin accounts have passwords? Have you changed the password to every account with admin access? Could the attackers have access to the TS database? Have you checked your server logs to see what's happening when they attack you? Do you know which admin account they are using to attack you? Is it possible that your server has been compromised by a virus?
Who is hosting your server?
Update your server and client software.
Go through and make sure that the only admin is you and that you change your passwordv
