Hello all,
I am new to linux. I have Mandrake Linux 9.0. I was finally able to get the client to install and work, but could not get the TS2 RC2 linux server to load and install.
All viable suggestions and helps would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance:confused:
this is the linux client forum.
and you dont give anywhere NEAR enough info.

Okay, not enough info is to be expected by linux newbie. I try to run the install after extracting it. but I get some error. I'll try to get the error later.
I think I don't have the correct sql to run it (SQL is new to me as well).
What type of information are you looking for? If I knew I could help in this area.
the info given depends on thr problem, usually on linux you need to give your distro, and error message. tho things like running processes, soundcard (other hardware) and lotf of other things, it depends on the problem.
in teamspeak, soundcard etc are useful. it soulds like its a sql from what your saying though.

Ok, here is some more info. Mandrake 9.0 comes with postgresql and mysql. Sound card is creative labs soundblaster live 5.1.
I can extract the files to my home directory folder. But once I click on the executable file nothing happens to further the install and make it operational. KDE 3.x.x is my GUI/window system I use.
The client installed okay with out a hitch.
Added question can both the client and the server exist within the same file directory? I thinkit should.
Any more suggestions would be appreciated.
Do I need sqllite to run the server?
Still i say wrong forum.
However:
The TS server is a standalone server meaning you don't need anything else to run it (most of the times).
You just extract it and then run it.
More info is in the manual posted in the FAQ section.
If you get errors: Post them in a thread in the server forum OR first look in the search if others had this problem before.

OK,
After reviewing the site further I agree that this is in the wrong forum. How can I move it to the appropriate forum (Linux English server section)?
I receive the following in the log:
