View Full Version : TS for MACINTOSH USERS
HI:
I have given you a thumbs up and hope that u can give us a time frame--for
definate--if not then we as macintosh users should be prepared to take other action as determined by the out come with TS and their people.

Yeah, threaten them, since they are doing this as volunteers. That's what we need more from the Mac community, idle threats and b|tching. What a lovely thing to say as they weren't even considering doing a Mac port till just recently and none of the Teamspeak crew have any experience with the Mac OS.
Listen, I don't think we should be licking their bootheels, but really, the negative tone to the comments "We deserve a timeframe or we go elsewhere" is really ludicrous, where are you going to go? RW? NetPhone? gimme a break.
They are putting in their own time on this, and they still have to support two other platforms in the mean time. If we get a working beta by the fall, I'll be very impressed, if not astounded. Check their roster, I only see 4 Software Engineers listed. You think all of them are going to learn Mac OS and do the program exclusively.
Get real. This isn't going to be overnight.

No. Considering they have to rewrite the entire app (since it's written in a language not available on Mac OS X). Now if they are smart (and they are at leasy a bit. Or the app would never even excist ;)) they write a portable core in C or C++ and write it so it's easy to do anything platform dependant (UI and possibly audio if available solutions are not stable enough).

Yes give the fellas a break. Now I desperately would love to know if any coding has started and maybe a hint of a time frame but we all do understand the complexities involved and are just over the moon you are making a version for us.
Thanks for that and here's hoping a fair amount of C can be just ported across without too many problems. In the meantime anyone needing TS should buy a cheap PC (I bought a P3 500 for very little) get some headphones/mic and a cheap sound card.
Another good tip there is now a VNC client for OSX so you don't really need a monitor for the PC just log in using VNC.
Anyway keep the good work going guys, here's hoping to a mac TS coming to my computer soon :)

As they have said several times TS is written in Delphi/Kylix. So it's a complete rewrite.
Damn.. somebody said we have 4 software engineers now?
I must tell ralf and niels to keep me updated then.
I wonder who the other 2 are then :) Love to meet them :)
P.S. We are willing to post a time frame. It looks like this:
|\
| \
|.. \
|_ _\___
Vertical scale is money donated to us.
Horizontal is time
So start sending money, if you want it fast!

Well if donations seriously speed up development then I know we could organise many mac users to donate a paltry $10 or $20 each.
Honestly if your serious then I and many others can start organising the forums to stump up the cash pretty quickly.
Just let us know

I'm just happy it'll come,
and now we've got a nice timeframe too :D
It was of course meant as a joke ;)
If we get paid for development we are supposed to deliver good products (that's what you are paying for right?).
We wouldn't want that :) That means we have to do our best and stuff :)
I can just say: we are working on it lads. It will come. Not so fast but it will.

Well Mac users have been burned many times in the past with software becoming vaporware... Examples are various games and specifically for this topic, RogerWilco.
I posted elsewhere that if you release a working beta I will donate $10 and then another $10 when the final version is released. I am happy to support developers who go out of their way to develop on the Mac.
