View Full Version : TS3 Development Progress and New Screenshots
Hi everybody,
here we are again with news from the TS3 development. Lots of progress has been made in the last months. You might have seen that on our website we now have the TeamSpeak 3 Software Development Kit available on request, so we have been getting lots of inquiries there and we also have been working with many companies for a while now. The stability and availability of the SDK shows that the "core part" of TeamSpeak 3 is almost finished, all the basic features are available and the frequency of errors or even crashes is low.
Our programming time is going into cleanup work and finishing touches, also some more advanced features are being finished. All this house-keeping is a lot of work, but unfortunatly not something I could write an interesting developer blog if I was to describe it, so I will not bore you more.
On a different note we are currently searching for a few additional Alpha testers (yes still Alpha, as we are still finishing off a few feature parts we don't want to call in Beta as of yet). Note that we are looking only for experienced Linux and Mac users - not for people that use Windows primarly. Those of you still interested, check out the application form and be sure to read those requirements extra carefully before considering to apply.

One more thing that many of you have been asking for... we can now present you with a screenshot of the full TS3 Client, as we have managed to cleanup the interface and icons enough to be able to present something that doesn't look too crappy. But bare in mind that this is still work in progress and does NOT show the final product. We will spend more work and time improving the look and feel aspect before we go public.
Keep tuned - and we hope to get to know some as our new closed Alpha testers!

Great news !!! To bad i don't run linux as primary desktop... it's just acting as a server here for internal file storage...
Looking forward to the next stage :D

Hi,
I am wondering when the deadline will be for entering the closed-alpha test. Would be really nice to know, since I plan upgrading my build-in audio of my MacBook Pro to something better. (especially the build in microphone is crap) Is it okay to enter with the build in soundcard and add that I am planning on upgrading it? So far I am thinking of buying a Rhode NT5 condenser mic + a firewire sound interface... Something like ne new M-Audio Profire would be really nice - but test are rare so far.

I don't think there's a fixed deadline. The application form will be disabled when the devs have found enough qualified testers. Simply submit your data if you think you meet all the requirements.
:)
I'm also very glad to see the first screenshots online! (which were announced a long time ago ;))
I also hope, that there will be also a Windows version available soon for testing, because I curently don't run Linux or mac as my primary operating system.....
So please continue your great work and I hope to see a Public release soon :)

The application form doesn't give any feedback on whether the form was sent or not, so I hope it got through :)
As long as you hit submit and confirmed you do indeed match the requirements it will arrive at our end, no worries ;)
I really like the Icons!No you don't...

I wanna update to TS3 in my avatar... :DSince you're a well-behaved forum user (just five more postings until you reach 1337 :p), I've used my magical admin powers to update your avatar to the TS3 clients away symbol from an older (****) iconset (you might know it from the video Ralf published some months ago (http://forum.teamspeak.com/showthread.php?p=169447#post169447)).
Now, be patient young Padawan...

WOOHOO Cheers ScP.
And Yeah, like always i'll just wait... Can't wait for the Beta stage...
I really like the Icons!
...which proves that you have no idea how a graphical user interface should look like.
I would apply. Just wondering if that is 4 hours at any time or is the 4 hours some schedule ie testing with groups of people.

There is no schedule, but of course if you are only available when nobody else is on the Server your testing abilities will be limited by that ;). In reality we are hoping for people to not only come onto the Server, go into manic testing mode and then quit, but also to hang out on the server, get to know the "other" alpha testers, get to know the developers, and discuss improvements, changes or just exchange opinions on new things. Actual using and not just testing only is the only good way to find out for which kind of tasks in your "normal work-flow" the new client is not very well designed for (= usability problems), also many things are not just the black and white "this is broken" or "this works", but rather "I would like if it could be tweaked to work like this" or "this is not very intuitive, I tried X, if that X could work it would have been much easier for me".
I didn't say anything about the icons because it's alpha and that's not really important at this point. But yeah, the icons are kinda meh.
Is the one with the computer and the wrench next to it in the Windows shot supposed to mean (SA)? Using a wrench for that seems ambigious.

Using a wrench for that seems ambigious.Since TS3 introduces the ability to create custom groups (including unique icons), you can change all of that. As already stated in the dev blog, the GUI is still work in progress and is not necessarily indicative of the final product. In fact, this is one of many many iconsets used in the ALPHA testing phase.
:)
Well, When will TS3 Be available for hosting companies to start hosting them? So far, its been a while since they`ve said they`d release TS3. I see no progress until now. But does anyone know any information regarding my first line of inquiry?
I see no progress until now
The alpha testing team can see a progress :p
So don't worry, there is progress!

A release date was discussed a few million times in this forum.
At the moment, there is no date.
The developer will inform every user in the dev blog, forum and the main page, if there is one.

I think you'll find some of this in the next dev blog...
The magazine website linked to in that article has no mention of TS3 anywhere. Perhaps it is only in the print edition?
Yes, but i don't have the time to translate it.
Could you post a picture of it at least?
