Hello all I installed the TS2 server on my xp system and followed all the instructions re port forwarding etc and got it working.
Then my router crashed and it would work any more so I uninstalled it, cleaned out the registry, and reinstalled it.
I have followed the instructions again and forwarded ports 8767, 14534, and 51234 but still I cant get my external IP address to work for my friends.
I must be missing something I know but I have done everything the same as the 1st time but they cannot connect.
Can anyone help please?

what are the results?

Each part of the test comes up with the same error message:-

Possible reasons:
1. You entered an invalid server address or port number.
2. You're using a software firewall or router, which is preventing a connection to the server.

Useful links:
1. Wikipedia - Port Forwarding
2. Wikipedia - Network Address Translation (NAT)

The ports are as I explained above and the server address is the external one which agrees with the information in my router.
When I open up the TS server and right click on the icon it only shows my Internal IP address even if I click on Update IPs.

Wait...i'm confused. You uninstalled your router? Could you elaborate a little on this? I'm gathering that your router stopped working and then you lost me. Or are you talking about uninstalling teamspeak?

Sorry, My router crashed as in it shut itself off (no power cuts or anything) and then rebooted itself.
TS would not work after that, although it had been working perfectly 30 minutes before this happened.
After trying a lot of stuff by reading the manual, I eventually uninstalled TS, cleaned out registry and rebooted computer.
I then downloaded TS again and installed it, followed the same procedures as the first time but still getting no joy.
I can log on to TS if I use the Internal IP but cannot get my friends on with External IP

After you reinstalled TS, did you allow it to be the exception in the firewall?

Yes the TS server is an exception in firewall along with the 3 aforementioned ports:confused:

I was just checking because you said you uninstalled TS and reinstalled. SOmetimes the uninstall removes themsevles from the firewall exceptions list.

The only other thing i can think of is if your router crashed and bit the big one, some parts of it might not work correctly anymore. I don't think it's likely but it's all i got.

I agree, if you can try to connect the modem direct to the PC and see if that works, only way for sure to tell exactly what the issue is. If it works then get a new router :)

You can try to disable the Firewall on the Router temporarily to see if that might be an issue as well, I've had issues with my Router at times to where it won't work with certain ports for some reason so there could be a number of issues :(

Hope you get it fixed.

OK Guys thank you all for your help I will try to bypass router and see what happens. I have already tried disabling the firewall in the router but that made no difference.
If all else fails I will just need to learn to type faster to my friends! lmao
Thanks for your help just now anyway.
