I am trying to setup a server for me and my two brothers.

I have downloaded the ts2 rc2 server and also the ts2 rc2 client. Both are installed.

I am running in dmz mode, so my lan firewall is not intruding.

I have setup the right ip address into the connect box, with the right username and pasword.

Yet when I try to connect myself to the server..

I get this

[17:07:58] No reply from server
Maybe the server is offline
or maybe teamspeak is not running on it

Checking the faq, it tells me that it's a problem with using rc1 with rc2, wither it be the client or server that is not on the same "patch". But as stated before I am using both RC2 for the client and server.

Any help please?

Are you using your LAN or WAN to connect to your server?
Are they in your LAN or elsewhere?

I'm using my public ip address. Neither the lan or wan, as they would give me the ip to access my router internal software. Although I did try with both, also.

In case it was not evident. They are outside of my lan.

When you checked the FAQ you checked the wrong error. The error you have in your post is this one: http://www.teamspeak.com/?page=faq&cat=client&rate=51#no_reply_from_server
Make sure you also read the red box.

RC1 + RC2 error is the 'Got a bad response from server' one.

None of these applies though. I have tried connecting to other servers and had the same problem. I have the server over dmz and with the firewall off. To no avail. The ip and port were correct also. And they are not within the lan.

Are you trying to connect to your TS server from the computer the TS server is running on?

If this is the case, use your local LAN IP. Most routers do not properly route your own wan address back to your computer through a dmz.

Can people outside your network connect to your TS server using your WAN ip? Can other people connect to your server using the WAN IP?

Is the firewall on the server blocking the ports teamspeak uses?

Essentially you need to explain this in more detail

What is the LAN IP of your server?
What is your public IP address (WAN IP) you are trying to use to connect to your server?

What is the LAN IP of the client computer you are trying to use to connect to the server?
What is the WAN IP of the client computer you are trying to connect to the server?

Is the client computer on the same physical network as the server computer?

If you dont want to give out the WAN IP's publically go ahead and PM me the information.

yes

If this is the case, use your local LAN IP. Most routers do not properly route your own wan address back to your computer through a dmz.

Already did that no avail.

Can people outside your network connect to your TS server using your WAN ip? Can other people connect to your server using the WAN IP?

No

Is the firewall on the server blocking the ports teamspeak uses?

No

Essentially you need to explain this in more detail

1 What is the LAN IP of your server?
2 What is your public IP address (WAN IP) you are trying to use to connect to your server?

3 What is the LAN IP of the client computer you are trying to use to connect to the server?
4 What is the WAN IP of the client computer you are trying to connect to the server?

5 Is the client computer on the same physical network as the server computer?

If you dont want to give out the WAN IP's publically go ahead and PM me the information.

1 My lan IP like any other users of the 2wire modem router is 192.168.2.1

2 Its a dynamic wan Ip address so it changes every 24 hours, but right now until i reboot my comp it is 76.71.253.236

3 His lan Ip is exactly the same as mine.

4 I didn't ask him his wan ip as he uses the same provider and thus it changes every 24 hours

5 No we live in a totally different city.

Note: You have to understand that handing out the Lan ip to anyone outside of my home network would be pointless as they would not be able to use that to connect. The Lan Ip I provided to you, enables me or anyone, within the home network, with the proper password to access the internal firewall, wi-fi settings and other internal programs of the modem/router.

I only asked that to see where the problem might be, not to connect to you.

Your lan ip cannot be 192.168.2.1 that doesnt sound right, thats most likely the IP address of the gateway/router. The lan ip should be a different address in the 192.168.2.x range. Make sure the router is forwarding the ports to the right lan IP.

sorry my bad I forgot to at a 1

It's 192.168.2.11 (0) as there would be a zero there.

and no don't worry I understand it wasn't to correct me, but a lot of people to who I've been speaking seems to be oblivious to the fact that no one would be able to connect using the lan Ip, from outside of the home network.

I take it you are still failing to connect to your own server, if this is the case attempt to connect to localhost:8767 as the server address (or 127.0.0.1:8767) if teamspeak is running on your computer you should be able to connect unless an antivirus or firewall program is blocking it.

if this will be going nowhere with solving it PM((or talk (teamspeak://tpc.webyt.net/?nickname=TSforum_TeamViewer) to me)) me with TeamViewer rdy on yours side.

Okay that worked.

Now the problem remains that other people can not connect to my server, they are outside of my lan and are using the public IP (WAn) adress
