View Full Version : [hint] tutor vids
lets see I got this hint in my mind stuck for few weeks.
It is about making tutoring videos.
I would try in them catch all important/general stuff that I encountered here in forum(the ones I can remember, you know sometimes knowing from reality and put all that hints together in vid could help more).
// some of us know that creating a step by step commong checklist when teamspeak server doesnt work is with lack of common knowledge not simple.
as well as the videos are not meant to be made with my face over it the whole time. it will be more like streamed tutoring with instant examples.
idea is to keep if possible all links to vids in one(first) post/thread.
if anyone will remake the videos or use the content of them to create some other pls only one request is in air:
keep them all listed [also] in here with specs/mods
umm I posted this
A. to get feedback(discuss) if it is good idea or not.
B. for another ideas about topics
C. for peps who would like to host the vids idk if using youtube or idk would be a good choise?(another register yay)
so far here are my ideas::
about channels in TS2
about permisions(WEBadmin interface) in TS2
sounds/voice activation level tips and tricks in TS2
knowing TCPQuery alias telnet options aviable in TS2
running two clients Win/Lin in TS2
(SQLlite || MySQL) && (Lin || Win) combinations know issues in TS2
Here's my thing with the idea. Videos are always good for people because they just watch and do. Very simple and easy.
The only question i would have is, is it worth it? TS3 is around the corner. When everything is done, you finished shooting, editing, and uploading it to a site, how much longer till people switch over to ts3?
Also do these videos already exist made by someone else? Perhaps your time would be put to better use if you wait for the release of ts3 and then make these tutorials? Not sure about the documentation that TS3 will come with.

imho its more like "once see is better than thousand times hear.

right good hint, but actually and honestly
1. did you checked by urself first? are they in EN?
2. umm I posted here before I got some more free time also because some people who might know will tell about them(vids)
well google found some pages with tutorials in text version and some vids in German only on tsviewer.com I think.
but it doesnt have what I think of ... plus its german :/ so can only see ...
adding (in last brackets are meant "mainly these")
user(section) - connecting(install, find, use provided)
admins(section grouped) - server files(config, logfile)
I found a few tutorials in English about server and client. I found a few in what i think is german. I didn't search long and hard or watch all of them completely but the overall gist of them was just how to use the client and how to set up a server. These tutorials cover just the basics. I found these videos on youtube.com . I really believe that your time and effort would be put to better use if you hold off till the new one.
Youtube.com is probably the best and most popular place to host these tutorials. Not sure about the software you'd use but i'm sure there is a 'desktop recorder' of some sort.
If you wait for TS3, you could do a 'what's new' video. A tutorial on server and client. And then maybe short clips about how to set up whispers or whatever. All these videos can be uploaded to YouTube.
Thats just my 2 cents.
ok lets discuss the
user - connecting in TS2
topic. I saw few of those vids on youtube, right they are not in EN, sometimes it might be better, but my main point was that those vids will be made by someone who actually knowns what people asks HERE so in global about teamspeak supportForum not just some guide oh here we got this IP and port with this server pass and this is how we click it in teamspeak.
I said tutor on purpose cuz its not meant to be damm crapy tutorial!
also not giving it on youtube at this point have its benefit ... it can be updated with comments from forum about what is wrong in it and what is missing there.
this is because I would like to try learn peps how to use teamspeak properly(I hope).
another question I am asking myself now is how to make the vids ... they can get kind of long so whatever I would make contents screen at begining of vid or make bunch of vids with portions... idk
The forum will have more traffic when TS3 is released. People will have questions about everything and want to know how to do this and how to do that. I think you'll get much more feedback on a video about how to do this or that in TS3. However if you are set on TS2 then more power to you.
Just google search desktop recorder. There is software out there i'm sure. Don't ask me for the name. Anwyway, you'll record it, then you can edit it with windows movie maker and then you'll be good to go.
In my opinion people want to get right to the problem area. They don't want to sit through a long video and try and guess where you might get to their subject. You should make small videos and covering only one or two similar topics. I don't think people want to watch a 10 min video covering everything that the client may need to know.

right but atm the issue is that I cant even try TS3 to get some first hints and tests .... so it will be so new for me as for them, right I might figure everything fast and easy... but you know ... time flows

I got already enought of ways to record even by very small progie. ok I will look for that one too.

I know. maybe I wasnt clear enought before. first let me tell you that speeds of the internet connectivity rises everywhere. second I didnt meant to do something so low as you described. I said I dont know whatever put a contents screen(for like 5-10secs) at begining of the vid with
- searching for server in browser 0:30
- searching for server in TS 1:10
- quick connect 1:40
- connect 3:10
or as you said make few portions of every topic. which will mean that they wouldnt need to download 30MB single file but 30MB in total of 3files if they wanna know as much as they can get. .... etc etc (imagine bigger topic in its content, honestly this is very discutable... I guess the best solution will be to split files bigger than certain filesize??)
I would love to make it as .mkv lol or some other vid format which can support multiple audio and subtitle tracks.... <<any tip here for an edit progie? excluded virtualDub(good one) and some crazysofts(usually licenced or way too huge)
as far as for Windows movie maker everyone know their own.
"I got one nerves thx a lot for offer."
