I'm having issues with Choppy audio Incoming and Outgoing from my client, I'm running on a Vista 64bit system and using a Plantronics GameCom Pro 1 USB headset. So far I've uninstalled and reinstalled my Sound Card drivers, Headset drivers, and reinstalled the client software. None of which seemed to work.

I'm not getting any packet loss and my latency is ~77ms to the server. My brother, who is in another room, isn't encountering the issue, he's using the same OS but using a non usb headset.

Also the issue does not occur in Ventrillo so I'm at a bit of a loss as to whats causing it.

try to set the process priority higher.

Service priority was defaulted to "High" with in Task Manager and the other option is Realtime, not sure if that's higher than what it is already but in either case, changing the priority to any of the available options didn't fix it either.

I didn't think about it before but I'm going to try setting the process affinity to a single processor core, see if that might fix it.

Try switching your wave and direct sound to the other one.

Can you try your brothers headset real quick to see if same problem occurs

Changing to Direct Sound from Wave didn't net any change and as I mentioned before the Headset works fine with other VOIP applications(Ventrillo) so I wouldn't think swapping it would make any change unless your looking at testing something with the codecs installed with the client, I will test it once I get a chance though.

Something I did notice though through some of my testing is that when I press my keybind the green light in the client stays steady on my end but for others its constantly flickering on and off regardless of me talking or not. I have changed the binding from my keyboard to my mouse with no change either.

The purpose of switch headsets is because you have a USB; your brother does not. I know TS2 has a slight hatred for USB. By doing this you show that it's a USB problem or not. It's one less thing to consider. Or perhaps windows 64bit problem.

Just for giggles, did you try run as admin?

I didn't know about the compatibility issue with TS and USB headsets, good to know, and yes I did try as Admin.

If it does turn out to be a compatibility issue with the USB are there plans to get that resolved in the near future or is that coming with the TS3 development?

Since you did mention possible USB compatibility I will try updating my chipset and USB drivers to see if that resolves it.

As far as i'm aware all attention is focused on TS3 and nothing will be done to TS2 unless a major security flaw is discovered.

Let me know if it does or doesn't work when you test it.

I wasn't able to get my brothers headset for testing, being the typical younger brother he is, but I did switch the Output for TS2 to my Speakers and it seemed to have fixed the incoming audio issue, not being able to use any other microphone but the one on my headset the outgoing issue wasn't fixed.

However I did get a hold of one of the server admins and we seemed to have fixed the issue to a point, what he did was lowered the bit rate for the codec server side and I am now able to send and receive audio clearly all be it not in the best quality. Though I really think this is just a work around to the main problem as the client works perfectly fine on the other computer without the changes as mentioned in the first post, for now it is working but I'll keep messing with it see if I can't get it to work as it is with the other users.

If it does turn out to definitely be a conflict with the client and my headset I guess I'll have to go buy a non USB solution.
