i cant connect to any ts2 public server
each time i get a message error and it say there is no reply from the server and that maybe the server is offline or ts2 is not running on it!!
it was working perfectly before and now i cant connect!
i have download the new version and i have tried to reinstall at least 5 times
i dont know what else to do..
plz help me i need to use ts2
do you have any firewall software which is blocking TS?
I am in the same boat. I have Win XP an Audigy and DSL. Everything was working fine then today I can not get on any servers. I have the updated TS. The server is working cause other clan members are on it. I have Zone Alarm but I turn it off. I have not installed anything else to the computer. I have uninstalled/installed several times. (One concern is after in uninstall/install the TS remembers my name etc., so obviously not everything is being uninstalled) But I can't even get on public servers although it appears it does go and "look" for approx 4 seconds then gives the same message as pscho...

i have a firewall but i got connected before while it was still on...
i tried to turned it off but i got the same result
I too can no longer connect to any server. I have a router but I forwarded ports 8000 - 9000 so I should be just fine but I still cant connect like I used to be able to. What happened?? please help. I am using teamspeak 2.0.26.27.
@War
TS 2.0.26.27 is outdated and most probably wont work on the server you are trying to connect to. Get the latest version (TS2 RC2). Additionally, forwarding ports 8000-9000 isnt needed as long as you just use the client. You can as well delete that forward as the only thing you might get from it are problems when different computer from your network try to connect to the internet/games/other software on the net.
@Getsum
Try deactivating the "TrueVector" service (part of ZoneAlarm) and see if you still cant connect. An update of Teamspeak changes the softwares MD5 checksum which personal firewalls are using to verify the "originality" of the software. If it changes the software no longer has any of the granted rights untill you confirm that the change in software is a legal one.
@seal_psycho
If you are using ZoneAlarm try the steps above.
If that doesnt help I am a bit at loss. Did you change anything on your system shortly before you werent able to connect anymore? Did the IP of the server you used to connect to change?

you should also make sure that you deinstall TS2 RC1 before you install RC2....
I have been turning zone alarm completely off. I have been using the same TS2 which was working find before. I am clueless. Here is a secondary question. I uninstalled Teamspeak. I then did a regedit and erased all references to teamspeak in the reg. I reinstalled the program and it STILL had my old settings to include my nickname etc. Do you know where the settings are being kept even after an uninstall? I am hoping a truly "clean" reinstall may fix my problem...

@getsum: search for a file called TeamSpeak.conf on your hard-drive and delete that file (!!! this will delete all your settings !!!)

Satan,
I had uninstalled it, then regedit and uninstalled that.I looked for teamspeak.conf and file was not found. I even ran a wild card "*.conf" and no file found. I then reinstalled Teamspeak and my setting, including call sign was there. It is still unable to locate the server, any server... help
SATAN,
As a side note, once I reinstalled teamspeak I again searched for teamspeak.conf and it was unable to find that file... hmmm

I'm having the same troubles. Ever since the newer version of TS was released, I cannot connect to ANY server whatsoever.

@ Getsum . . .
The zone alarm true vector system is a service that runs regardless of if you shutdown zonealarm or not.
I believe this is likley to have somthing to do with using Windows XP and one of the recent security updates we downloaded at the end of March. (I have the auto download enabled) I am looking into it, but hopefully this might shed some light on a direction to look.
I have Win XP Pro. Used RC2 perfectly for weeks, then at the end of March...no connection...even to the public ones.
This is from 3 different networks that worked before, and 2 different computers.

??? I also use ZoneAlarm and I don't see any problems... I can connect to all servers and I even host one...
(just make sure, your Internet Zone Security is set to medium if you have problems)
@Getsum: The file is on your hard-disk... just make sure that you search everywhere (includes system and hidden files)
@Syclone: I don't think that there's any problem with a "security" update... I don't experience any probs...
@ SatanClaus
There are huge differences in the versions of ZoneAlarm. For one thing there is ZoneAlarm Pro and ZoneAlarm. I dont know of any problems related to ZoneAlarm Pro as it actually is quite different from ZoneAlarm (free) anyway. Certain version (They must be about 1 year old now) did block the Teamspeak UDP traffic (and that of some other applications) even when you gave the application rights to have free access and act as a server. Since i have stopped using ZA about 1.5 yeras ago I am not sure if the issue is still present with the free version but i assume that it got sorted somewhen.

@Judas
Actually you are very wrong ;) (now). There are very minor difference in the pro and free editions. The free edition has been rebuilt using the pro engine. That has been for quite some time i would say almost a year if not longer. The only thing different are a few features. In fact several router out there even support zone alarm now so that you can more easily control application access via tha ACL. Both version are fully based on the TrueVector service which uses MD5 to identify and monitior programs.
Btw, your conf file is specific to the account used to install Teamspeak. If you use windows 2000 or xp conf can be found in
documents and settings/username/teamspeak/
This would be for the client. Be sure that you have administrative rights on the system you are installing on. Other wise you may not be allowed to write the conf to the drive muchless even install it depending on your rights and privlages.

I am having the same prob, About 3-4 days ago i went to connect to public server no luck i tried everything no joy. I went to teamspeak home page and used the 3 links there and it works but this is a hassel to do this. Whats up with this? did you all change somthing the other day?and yes i have XP pro and i have not installed firewall yet i have it just havent insatlled yet. So this issue is not firewall. it has to be somthing that was changed withen a week ago.

check the ips listed in your address book they may be differnt than those listed on the urls
@ aeroclown
As far as i know, ZoneAlarm pro has the ability to create IP and Port based rules as well whereas ZoneAlarm (free) just gives more or less full access or none (or server rights). Thats what i call a major difference. And since the port/ip controll part isnt accessible in the free version i assume that they have done something wrong there sometimes back. Yet I agree with you that the engine in the background is the same.
This is really frustrating. I have really enjoyed using Team Speak to play BF1942 with a buddy 2 states away from me. Awesome. Worked great RC1 and then RC2....then at the end of March BAM! Cannot connect to any Teamspeak server -no response or server may not be running teamspeak. Public or not. The only thing that could have changed between when it worked and when it did not,(on my side) was a Windows XP Security update.
My Specs:
Win XP Pro
Turtle Beach Santa Cruz
P4 2.66Ghz O/C 3.10 Ghz
Onboard LAN
Dlink Cable/DSL router
I have used IPCONFIG to find my IP address and then put that IP in the DMZ - no change.
I have been able to ping the public server at (I forget the address) 189.xx.xx.xx WITHOUT the ":9500" at the end of it. When I put on the ":9500" at the end of the IP it was not able to ping it. I know the IP numbers listed here may not be correct (going from memory), but mabey the ":9500" is significant? This is the same wether the machine is in DMZ or not.
Last night I even went and uninstalled the RC2(Searched and found all Teamspeak files not caught by the uninstall (ie Teamspeak.conf), redownloaded a fresh copy of TS2 and reinstalled - No help. The program IS able to go out to the public servers and get their adresses when I hit the update button. (Somthing that does not work at one of my Work locations).
I hope this helps someone else trying to trouble shoot this issue. I would just give up on it, if it were not that it worked flawlessly just a short time ago....beware the ides of March!!

@Syclone and to all the other people who didn't notice it:
TS2 went from RC1 to RC2... there was like a week you all had to update until the old RC1 publics were killed (9500, 9600 and 9700 are dead).
the new publics are running on
voice.teamspeak.org:8767
voice.teamspeak.org:10050
voice.teamspeak.org:10060
and they are for RC2 clients only (RC2 and RC1 aren't compatible)
@judas: back to zonealarm: I use the free version of it and I don't experience any problems... you just have to know that you have to set "internet security" to medium if you want to run a ts2 server. I think client even runs in high mode... But yes, I think pro is much more advanced and there are big differences :)
@ SatanClaus
I think that the ZoneAlarm issues with UDP traffic have been solved quite a while ago but you know how it is. When everything is running fine and there are no known security leaks in your firewall, you wont update it unless you are really worried about security and are keeping all your software up to date. So you might quite well encounter some old ZA versions, especially on older computer that run Windows 98/ME/NT 4.
OK, some success here.
Satanclaus: I did have the RC2 client and have had it for a while...worked fine for several weeks after the release - I did originially have the RC1, but replaced it with RC2 when it came out. I had been using it on www.BFcentral.com's TS server. The probelm happend in late march when I could no longer connect to the BFcentral server(A buddy of mine was using it at the time with no problems)...tried to connect to the TS public ones listed in the RC2 program (under "connect")....and failed as well and thought my TS was fubar'd. Thank's to Satanclaus' comments I have made progress. Somehow, the public servers listed under connect in RC2 reflect the ports for RC1 which have been shut down..I even did a reinstall and had to go to the server to pull down the address's (Update list) for the public servers and what came back was the old RC1 ports (":9500" and such). - No wonder I could not connect to the public servers...the port 9500 no longer exists...
Anyway I now went to the Teamspeak home page and hit the link for the servers on the right side of the page and I got right in to the Public TS server. It WORKS! Cool!
-It still does not explain my first BFcentral problem....but does explain the public server problem -
Sadly, the www.bfcentral.com TS server is now offline - been so for a week or more....so I am bnot able to see what the original problem was...need a place to go and talk when playing BF1942.
thanks for your help.

Syclone,
www.battlesim.com has a public BF1942 server set up at:
64.156.241.169:8776
Thanks alot for your post of the BF1942 server. I was able to hook up with no problem all night last Friday...
Looks like I really did not have a problem beyond the old RC1 servers showing up as the public servers in TC2...

I am glad you were able to get to the server and use it. I noticed a few people on Friday night, I almost joined in but I had some stuff to do.
Do you play at any regular times? I haven't had the best of luck hooking up with BF1942 players on teamspeak. Honestly, playing wargames without teamspeak makes me feel like something is "missing".
In any case, glad to help. :)

Ok I have the same problems listed above, Same error message maybe server offline
Maybe ts not running on it
My teammates are on so it is running and I was playing for a week then 3 days ago bam I get this problem.
I am running windows 98/SE
soundcard is Montego 2 quadzilla
TS2 RC2
I also cannot connect to any server even tried manualy putting in address and no dice. I dont know what zone alarm is never heard of it so how do I find out if I have it? Also I never had RC1 so cannot be problem above. Also it does not locate the online servers it says error locating online servers at bottom.
@WhiteWolf1
can you ping the TS server's IP ?
Do you use a firewall (maybe XP's built in, per default started one) which is bloking connection to the TS server port ?
Probably your ISP blocks some ports ???
PS: ZoneAlarm is a SW firewall.

TS servers ip is 66.208.106.1:8772
I have windows 98 SE so dont have that default firewall (I dont think).
My ip constantly changes every time I reconnect to the internet so It should not be that.

ok, that server is up...
please reproduce the error in your ts-client and go to your TS-directory afterwards... open your TSclient.log and search for a more detailed error-message...

Just to update this topic, he solved his problem

By manually entering the IP instead of copy/pasting it ..
