Hello all, i am from the Flight Simmers side of things,we are currently trialing Teamspeak, when we had just a few of us there the other day life was a bowl cherries, somehow this morning when a fair few of us turned up to hum and awe it all fell apart.

Screeching sounds etc, broken up as in R/W when we get a few online,we maybe doing something fundamentally wrong,is it codecs...bits....Pkts....someone on linux...us not on linux(i dont really know what linux has to do with it)they all but want to give up on it,but i am dissapointed to say the least,in short we need help, maybe there is a configuration issue here or server side of things! HELP Gurus!!!!!??? regards Patrick.

Well.. if the problems only start when there are "many" people on the server you might simple have a bandwidth problem on either client or serverside. If everyone is experiencing the problem its most probably the server which doesnt have enough bandwidth. If only few people have the problems its their side which doesnt have enough bandwidth.

Basics about Teamspeaks bandwidth usage:

Celp 5.2 uses around 630 bytes/s
GSM16.4 uses around 2.2 KB/s

If someone talks the server receives 1 stream from the user and sends this stream to every other user (8 people on server on GSM16.4 codec ==> incomming traffic on server: 2.2KB/s, outgoing traffic on server: 15.4 KB/s)
Streams on the server dont get merged. Every stream adds to the total. IE if 2 people are talking on the same as the above mentioned example you get 4.4 KB/s inbound and 30.8 KB/s outbound on the server.

Another problem might be that you got users that constantly transmit which, according to the little maths above, can cause serious trouble and lots of bandwidth usage.

You could try a lower codec or a server that has access to more bandwidth that you are currently using.

Yes thanks for that mate, the server has cable and most of us just have normal 56K,would this be the cause!? one bandwidth doesnt fit all?sending differing PKts etc,gee i wish we could sort this out,the ability to put' ground..Tower...departure...Del in this is great.thanks again, regards Patrick.
