Okay here is the deal. I have already successfully logged into my server's web-based administration as an admin and changed my admin password. I cannot for the life of me get into the web-based administration as a superadmin. I was wondering if someone could give me a detailed description of how to do about doing that. I have the default superadmin password that it gave me when I first installed the server software. Maybe I am missing a very simple step. I am using TS2 by the way. Thanks to whoever helps me out.

Just replying to myself in order to keep my thread at the top of the active forums list so somebody will reply.

First of all, no need to bump your thread. People will reply as soon as they have time.

About your problem. When logging in as superadmin you need to check the corresponding checkbox. Are you sure that you have done so?

Yes I have checked it off. I will list the following ways I've tried to log on as superadmin.

1.) by using "superadmin" as the username, put in the superadmin password, and checked off SuperAdmin

2.) used no login name, put in the superadmin password, and checked off SuperAdmin

3.) by using "superadmin" as the username, put in the superadmin password, and did not check off SuperAdmin

None of those worked and I don't know if it's an issue of capitalization when typing in the username or what. I know the other obvious thing is that I could have wrote down the password incorrectly, but I've had the same problem with loading the server on 2 different computers. I never could get in as superadmin using the default passwords it gave me on both computers.

Passwords actually are case-sensitive (as well as usernames)

The correct way would be to use the username "superadmin" and the password as you have written down. (thats what you actually did (1)).

You can check your server.log file which contains 2 lines with the initial admin and superadmin passwords. Maybe trying to copy/paste them will help?

If not.. just post again.

Okay that did the trick! I checked out the server.log file and it appears I mistook a "1" for an "l" in the password. So now I am able to get on as superadmin. One thing I don't understand though is what is the point of checking off superadmin when logging in? I can get in as superadmin even if I don't check it off. Thanks for your help from before though!

Uhm... I am not sure what the difference is...

It might be that when you dont check superadmin you will just be a normal admin on the server running on the port specified. I have never tried it myself nor have i ever run a multi-server setup but the above is the only thing that would make sense (unless there is no difference at all, which i dont believe).

I have 2 more questions. I am able to use the client software and log into my server as admin, but I'm not able to do the same using superadmin. Should I be able to? And the other question is about the ability to kick players from a chat room. I can do it by dragging their name to a different chat room, but if I right click on their name, the kick player from room option is never available. Is there a reason for that? I guess I have 3 questions. Is there a way to ban users from specific rooms and not the entire server?

Superadmin is just for you web-interface, this user doesn't exist on any server for your client, so it's correct that you can't login with your client by using your superadmin account.

perhaps you're in your default-channel when your "kick player from room" menu-option is disabled, because if you kick a player from a room he always gets moved into your default channel.

you can set a password to a channel and you can edit it... so why do you also want to ban someone? no, there's no way to ban someone from a channel only.
