A motd (message of the day) would be nice to show in the client GUI :)

I second! This would be a nice to have, and probably an easy to implement feature.

I already use welcome message and description.
Users often ask the same questions on how to use TS this is where 'motd' day would be nice to have. Clan wars and info would be nice to announce too.
TeamSpeak is a great and uniqe way to comunicate, i use it everyday :D
Thumbs up for TS and the good job you are doing everyday!

Well. . . how much text will it support? Is there a carriage return character you can put in the string? The "welcome message" seems more like a single line of text sorta thing.

This would be a useful feature for the bozos who join my server and can't be bothered to look at the Welcome text.
How about allowing either a text file for a popup window or a wav file to be played over the audio?
There should be an additional menu item (probably Help|MOTD) to replay/redisplay the message.
As suggested elsewhere, the timestamp on the file on the server should be compared to the client's time to decide whether to use it.
Join sequence:
Client sends "motd query". (Use a different command or command option for menu item to "force" motd.)
Server checks current server time against time on file and whether force option is present, sends file if appropriate.

Slightly messier, but having an optional capability for an SA to record/upload or type a new message from his client would eliminate the need to shell in or FTP the new MOTD to the server.
Alas, there arises the question of how the file should be stored on the server, either as a BLOB in the DB or as a disk file.
