View Full Version : [TS 2.0 RC 2] - [Counter-Strike 1.5] - [win2k sp 3]
Hey guys I just recently got TS working for my CS team and we have a big proglem. If teamspeak is running my ingame half-life voice doesn't work, however as soon as I close teamspeak it works fine. My soundcard is a SB Live! and my os is win2k sp 3. Any ideas on what I can do to get it to work?
Thanks a lot,
Jah
To make a long story short: You cannot use both at the same time (period).
Unless something has changed drastically recently, you can only use a mic with one program at a time...
So whichever program takes control of the mic first, retains control.
O/T: /me wonders if MS has something like DirectSound Channels planned for audio inputs... but I digress

Well how come all my other teamates don't have this problem?

why do all people say that its impossible?
i don't have problems using both at the same time.
maybe it doesn't work with all soundcards but with the SB Live and WinXP it's just a matter of the right settings.
try using direct sound with lowest latency and 8bit recording.

So... I guess something *has* changed drastically... I can assure you this didnt use to be the case.
Just to confirm though... you are saying you can *transmit* (record) using both halflife's built in voice-comm and TeamSpeak at the same time... (not simultaneously of course but you can choose to use either mid-game via different push to talk buttons)
If this is the case, please enlighten me (us) as to what settings (in halflife & winxp) specifically allowed you do to this. I am very interested to hear how this became possible to do (because as said, this at least used to be impossible).

as i said i just had to use direct sound (instead of wave), turn down the buffer size (lower latency) and force 8 bit recording in TS.
i didn't change anything outside TS.
and YES it's even possible to use both simultaneously! to do so you just have to use the same button for voicecom and TS.
I tried what you said and it still didn't work :( What drivers did you have checked through TS?
Thanks,
Jah

hm..do you have the latest drivers for your sb live! ?
i use direct sound, lowest latency, force 8bit rec. and primary sound drivers.
I did a little searching... found the following client cvars pertaining to voice....
voice_avggain
voice_clientdebug
voice_dsound
voice_eax
voice_enable
voice_fadeouttime
voice_forcemicrecord
voice_inputfromfile
voice_loopback
voice_maxgain
voice_modenable
voice_overdrive
voice_overdrivefadetime
voice_profile
voice_recordtofile
voice_scale
voice_serverdebug
voice_showchannels
voice_showincoming
voice_dsound is probably of particular interest... I'm pretty sure that by default it's set to zero, but I could be wrong... Desprocon, can you report what 'voice_' settings you're using in halflife (check your config.cfg file in the cstrike directory).
Also, can you check to see if you can get it to work without forcing 8bit?...
Thanks

I tested many config settings (especially netsettings) in the last years to improve gaming experience. But I didn't do much to the voice settings. In fact I think they are standard.
But here they are:
voice_scale "1.000000"
voice_enable "1"
voice_forcemicrecord "1.000000"
sv_voiceenable "1"
voice_modenable "1"
voice_dsound and the other settings you mentioned are not in one of my configs. So they are still set to their standard.
I think voice_dsound is set to 1. I looked for it during a game sometime.
I will do a complete check today to find out which TS settings don't work and which ones do the trick.
I'll post the result later.
Have a nice day
