Hope someone can point me in the right direction. I remember reading a post awhile back with the server settings to set up the permissions for your clients. What boxes do I check and don't check for clients to use my server? I've been searching the forum for a couple of days trying to find that post. Can anyone help me out?!

The problem I am having now is I need to grant a user voice to be able to talk for each time they log in.

Tks in advance!

Hmm.. i am not 100% sure but the rights which you assign to the users while on the server should be sticky, so to say, should be there when they rejoin. If that isnt the case you might suffer from a different problem. Have you ever had a look at your server.log? Does it contain any hints about failed sql querys?

Tks for your reply Judas. I think I had the moderated box checked under the channel properties. Not sure if that was it or not? So, another words with the moderated box checked the admin has to authorize none registered members voice access. Does that make sense?

Also, my previous question about permissions. I meant the permissions through the webinterface when you log on as a superadmin. there was a thread somewhere around here giving details on what level of permissions you should set your members.

Super Admin
Admin
Channel Admin
Voice
Etc....

About moderated channels:

As soon as a channel is moderated, only people with voice will be heard. Yet the flag is only sticky for registered users. Voice isnt a flag which you can set in the webinterface.

About the permissions in the webinterface:
Generall you can leave the permissions the way they are. Yet you might find that certain groups have too many rights (ie creating channels). You can change them rights according to your own liking but unless you encounter any problems there is no need for further steps there.

OK, moderated channels is clear to me.

I went in and changed some of the user permissions. Are there settings that I should definitally check or not check?

There are no settings that absolutely need to be changed.

The only setting people are not 100% sure about is whether users should be allowed to create channels or not. Yet as mentioned before, That depends wholy on you.

Permissions are there to be customised which means that you have the responsibility to change them according to what you expect the server to do. You cant really go wrong but restrictive permissions might work in your favour if you got some users that like to fool around with a server.
