View Full Version : People "disappearing" from server.
Is anyone else experiencing that all of a sudden people can't see each others, or even their own nick?
Happened to me twice now.
When it happened the first time, I re-installed the TS-server and everything was fine. Now the same problem occured again.
I don't feel like re-installing the server every now and then.....
Ideas?
Server's running on a PC with win2k.
Btw, the sound is still working so You can talk to each others, but You won't have a clue whom Your talking to.
what versions have you got running ? rc2 ? b22 for the server ?
No disapearing user problems are known.
I'm running RC2.
There is no problem whatsoever to talk to each others and no problems at all to login to the server.
It's just that, when logged in, You don't see everyone's nick even though they are in there too.
For instance yesterday, we were three people in there, but I only saw my own nick and one other guy. One of the guys didn't see anyone in the server and the other saw only me.
Really weird.
If anyone yet haven't experienced it and not have any ideas of what could be wrong, I guess I'm screwed. :(
have all of you been in the same channel at that time?
and,
did you have a default channel on your server ? (A channel with a "D" in parenthesis), if not you should make one to prevent this. Not having DefaultChannel generaly leeds to invisible members :o).

Yes.

Hmm, I'm pretty sure there's a default channel in the server.
Gonna have to look into that though to be totally sure.
Thx for the info.
Just out of curiosity, why would not having a default channel make people not showing up as logged in?
if the client did not specify a (existing) channel and there is no default channel the client would kinda land in "nowhere" :D
Seems like a default channel wasn't set after all. :o
It's set now, so I really hope the problem is gone now.
(unless I get that same problem about "DefaultChannel getting removed" on my server too, hehe)
Thx a lot for the help. I will let You know if the problem returns. ;)
i've just experienced what i have decided to call "invisible user syndrome" (IUS). I could join the server and create channels and modify settings as per usual but could not see anyone else or myself in the channels. Voice worked perfectly.
It seems this problem occurred for me after installing directx 9.0a. I do not know if this is related but that was the only change made to my system prior to experiencing IUS.
I am running windows 2000 client and server (teamspeak 2 rc2).
Comments that people had made about the default channel being missing were correct. I set a default channel and no longer was i a sufferer of IUS :))
Why the default channel setting was removed i do not know however i am happy that setting a default channel solved my problem.
Yeah, that solved my problem too. :)
Thx a lot!
Hmmm,
how on earth are you guys getting rid of your default channels ? With .42 clients at least I _think_ you need to SAs doing some bad stuff simultaniously to do this...maybe its a .40 bug combined with the server-insecurities that were fixed recently :D.
I actually didn't lose my default channel; I never set one in the beginning. ;)
