Does server need root?

Hello.

Does the ts2 rc2 server need root access? I'd rather not have a closed source application running with root access.

No root access is needet.

Usually is better as an user. i make it so too.

First i run it as root an sometimes the Server was hanging - only reset works. Run as user fix this.

You should ABSOLUTELY NEVER RUN TEAMSPEAK AS ROOT.

Root is never needed for daemons that listen on TCP or UDP ports greater than 1024, and really not even then.

It's best to create a dedicated account with no shell and no password to run the TS server as.

That way if there ever were an exploitable buffer overrun in the TS server code, it would minimize the dammage an attacker could inflict.
