Toshiba Satellite Pro - killer static

When trying to use Teamspeak on my Toshiba satellite pro 6100 with a Yamaha AC-XG soundcard installed - driver version 6.13.10.2152 I am getting terrible static through my microphone. I can hear people perfectly - they can hear me but with a massive amount of static.
Sort of ruins the TeamSpeak fun :(

Any ideas or solutions gratefully accepted.

I have looked at KXproject but do not have the tech knowledge to install confidently so had to stop halfway throuhg.
