View Full Version : Help with error code please
I have an AMD K7 1 GHz machine with 384 megs of Ram. I run Windows XP and use SoundBlasterLive with the most recent drivers. If you need to know anything else about the machine, let me know.... on to the question....
TeamSpeak2 installed just fine (tried to install it twice even) but when I try to run it, nothing appears on the desktop. In the tray, however, I can see the TS2 icon. When I right click on it and choose "Connect" I get the error window message: "cannot make a visible window modal". Nothing appears in the desktop and I can't connect to any servers because of it.
What can I do to fix this? Any help is greatly appreciated!!! Thanks in advance.

I did a search on the forum and found 2 other posts.. neither got any response. So i guess noone knew the answer :(
but lets try and get this fixed :)
Try these steps:
1) Try updating to DirectX 9.0 if you don't have it yet and the latest video card drivers
2) Try using the audigy 2 drivers (if that doesn't work try the KX drivers)
3) Use the latest TS RC2 client (see developers forum)
and let us know if it helped ..

I guess you get an errormessage when starting ts which is off-screen... when you try to give the focus to the main-window of ts it responds with that errormessage...
so perhaps try to use a higher resolution for your screen, perhaps you get to see the errormessage...
and to provide further information please go to your ts-client's directory and open your TSclient.log (with notepad or editor). There might be some errors in there, please post them in here

(1) I have Direct X 9.0 installed and latest video drivers
(2) I have the latest SoundBlasterLive drivers installed, but not the Audigy2 ones (didn't think I should do so since it's not an Audigy card)
(3) I'm using the latest TS RC2 software
So, so far (with the exception of the Audigy drivers), I'm on track. BTW I can get it to work on an old Pentium 233 running Win98 no problem. Is this possibly an XP issue?
I checked out my TSClient.log and found this line:
"ERROR,All,TMainForm.ApplicationEvents1Exception,EI nvalidOperation: Cannot make a visible window modal"
On resolutions: I have mine set to 1024x768 which is the highest the display will allow (LCD).
Any other suggestions? Please help! Thanks in advance.
Well, SatanClaus, I think you're right. After right-clicking and choosing Connect on the tray icon over and over (and getting that same error message) the Connect screen showed up. So, I put in a server IP I know and gave it a shot anyways. Well, lo and behold, I was in the room that I wanted. Only problem is that I can't actually SEE the window so I can't configure anything or who's in the room or anything.
I think you're right in that it's hidden off screen somewhere. But, since I can't change my resolution to something higher, I don't know what I can do. My only recourse, I think, is to try plugging in another monitor, choose a higher resolution, move the window to the top left of the screen, save it's location, switch monitors, and see if I can see the window then. What a pain in the butt, though.
Does anyone know of any methods to move windows "off screen" to a more adequate location that the user can see? I am almost positive that's what's going on in this case. Let me know what you guys think and thanks again!
Try deleting the teamspeak.conf file.. it stores the location of the teamspeak window..
Helza you are a godsend! Thank you very much! Deleting the teamspeak.conf file did the trick and I soooo appreciate it.
Thanks again, everyone. Keep up the great support! (Thanks once again, Helza!)
