Here is the environment I've been using:
WinXP Home, autopatched to current
Teasmspeak 2.0.29.47
P4 2.0 Ghz, 512 MB, Sony Vaio PCV-RX755 model with SiS 7012 sound built in as alternative sound hardware
Hercules III 7.1 with latest drivers as of last week - v4101
GeForce 4200 Ti
DirectX 9

Playing Planetside

I frequently have my voice go to overload static as heard by my teammates. When I alt-tab out of the game to check settings I see that the Hercules control panel shows the microphone setting jammed up to the top, even though I set it lower, about a quarter of the way up. So then I reset it and it is usually okay for awhile
This is difficult, as Planetside is a processor hog, and makes doing anything else slow, and sometimes is not successful in picking back up after being backgrounded.
This buggy interaction may be between the game and the Hercules driver.

I also have had a couple of incidents of my send getting stuck on spontaneously and jamming the channel, even though I have push to send set on and have not actually pushed the send button (configured to middle mouse button). Then my teammates had to kick me out (since I didn't have other hotkeys set to mute or leave channel, which I did later).

I am now backing down to the SiS 7012 motherboard sound to see if it is more stable with TS and Planetside.

Go to developer section and download the latest dev client. Big chance it solves this problem.
