Direct Sound is not available...

I am trying to get on direct sound for my teamspeak, but for some reason, the option is gray...can anyone help me out?

What version of DirectX are you running and have you enabled your hardware using dxdiag.exe?

I'm greatly sorry if I'm not Mr. Technical. I am trying to figure out why I can't use Direct Sound. I don't know what version of DirectX I have, I never looked into it. I never had this problem
I had to reboot my computer to manufactured version and all of a sudden I don't have Direct Sound. I am trying to get a few solutions so I can test things out.

I did all the tests on my dxdiag.exe, and that didn't help anything.

Well, then dxdiag told you the DirectX Version! Why didn't you tell us?

Your desperately wanted solution:

Win98 comes with DirectX 6, or 7. TS needs at least 8.1!
Install it - ready!

Reading the manual for 2 minutes would have answered your question!
