Private Convorsation?

I was just in TS and a friend of mine just did a weird thing to me. He somehow talked to me without anyone else in the channel hearing him. I think he was also in a different channel altogether too, but I'm not sure. When I asked him how he did it, he wouldnt tell me. Does anyone here know how to do that?? Thanks.

it is a feature, called whisper.

Go to Settings | Key Settings and setup keybinds to whisper to other users.
