Ok... I'm ready to be completely flamed off of this board, but...

I've check the forums pertaining to my OS and the server section here and I've read the server manual and I can't find anything that answers my problem.

I would like to run a server for me and some friends but I can't seem to get the client on my machine to see the IP... it basically says that the server is either offline or teamspeak is not running on it.

The machine is one of three machines I have at home running through an ICS network. It is connected to the internet via a auto switch which is then conected to the Modem via an Uplink port and straight RJ45 line.

It runs, it gives me an IP, but my client machine can't connect to it.

Could someone be so kind as to point me in the right direction??

Thanks

so server and client are in the same network ?
Is the server on the same PC as the client ?

Usually when problems by LAN - LAN connectiosn occure, this is due to a firewall in the LAN (e.g. WinXP's default one,...). Any firewall running ?
If not, can you ping the LAN IP of the server from the PC with the client ?
You're not using the WAN IP to connect from within the LAN, aren't you ? Use the LAN IP inside the LAN !

No... there is no firewall, not even the default XP one. I have two PCs connected to a switch and that switch is connected to the Modem and then the Internet. Neither machine can see each other on the LAN side... I have two different IPs...

The machine running both the client and server can be connected to by my friends externally. I am also able to connect to the server from the same machine internally through 127.0.0.1

I cannot, however, connect through my other machine to the server... either LAN or WAN.

The 2 LAN PC's can't see (ping) each other ? Then why are you "blaming" TS for not working in your network
Correct your network settings !

Within the LAN do NOT use the WAN IP to connect to a LAN PC, ONYL use the LAN IP since most access devices can't rout backwards.
As long as you can not ping your TS server PC from the second PC, we can't help you ! correct your network settings (you give us not more infos, so we can not help you in detail) !

are you sure that you can use your modem in the way you want to???
As far as I know there should be some sort of router being connected to your switch. Then the router itself is connected to the modem and handles connections to the internet from the switch.
If you want to use your own computer as a router, e. g. with Windows ICS, you need a second network-card. One network-card has to be connected to your modem, the other one to the switch. In this case your computer is the router, which means that if someone else wants to connect to the internet with your modem, your computer has to run.

Anyway, guldi is right, we can't help as you provide too few information. Either you don't use your modem in an appropriate way or you have a problem with your LAN-settings. If the latter one is the case, we could use much more information as OS, Network-Cards and especially the network-settings of all three computers, which are Name, Workgroup, Protocols installed, if TCP/IP (that's a must): which IPs, which Subnet-masks, any Firewalls etc... But still we could argue about whether this is the right forum to discuss such things... perhaps this would fit into a basic network-forum much better. :p
