Hello, my English is not so good, so there could be some tpye faults..

I downloaded the ts 2server... and i installed it on my pc...
the pc is running under win 98... so there are no firewalls.. right?
i read the readme.txt twice also i did with the forum..
next school year i'll take a cures in computers (ICT) so right now i don't know all the english computer terms so it's pretty hard to understand some treads.
we have a network at home(lan) with a router. we have a normal cable connection.
in our lan i can get on the ts server... but when sb outside the lan(friends) try to get on it there occures everytimes a error..
i give them the right ip and i'm sure that there are no firewalls running...
i read some were something about port forwarding... is it important? and how does it work on a edimax broadband router?
i understand that i need to open a port? 8767 or is that only nessacerry for a firewall?

please help me!!!

Yep! The router has to know where to forward the incomming packages to!
So you have to tell the router the IP of the computer the TS Server runs on,
and the Port on which the TS server waits for incomming packages!
and how does it work on a edimax broadband router?
Well, therefore you have to read your Router-Manual!

Since you did not specify the exact router model I can only give you a general help.

Lets say the computer on which the TS server is running has the IP 192.168.2.100 and the TS server is configured to the default port 8767.
I suggest that you give your server manually an IP address and do not specify automatic obtainment of IP address.
So your server will not change the IP and you don't have to update the port forwarding.
If you don't know how to do this you can find out your current ip address by executing winipcfg with run in the start menu.

In the config tool go to NAT->virtual server.
In line one first column (Private IP) enter the ip of the computer that is hosting your server. In this case 192.168.2.100.
In column 2 (Private Port) enter the port of the TS server. In this case 8767.
In column 3 (Type) click UDP.
In column 4 (Wan Port) choose your WAN interface, for example WAN1. This column does not exist with the BR-6104 routers.
In column 5 (Public Port) enter the port of the TS server. In this case 8767.

Click Apply.

After that your friends can connect to your TS server by specifing your external IP.
If you don't want to give your friends your IP every time it changes register a domain at http://www.dyndns.org/ or a similar service (It's free), and enter the correct data in the DDNS section of your router.
So the dns entry gets automaticaly updated and your friends can connect with the domain you registred at dyndns.org.

This description is for the BR-6524 and BR-6104 routers but may be valid for other edimax router models.
