The following is a general comment about the responses I have seen on the forum to people seeking help. This is alos part of a previous post I placed.

I think this forum has to be a little more open minded and willing to help with issues just outside of, though still touching, TS, and not take the party line that unless its a TS application problem the issue cant be raised or discussed.

This is a support forum for TS. That means that all things that help or hinder TS, whether hardware or software, are fair game to be discussed on this forum.

Why not start helpful discussions that find solutions rather than rebuke users for not doing enough research. Whether its realized or not, when a user posts, he is doing research to an extent.

Thanks.

1) opening up a forum allows to post all kinf of questions (as opening mean to me: going into a gray area). It will be impossible to controll whats still related to TS. Furthermore it will get much more diff. to search for important information to TS.

2) Concerning networking, routers/modems, OperationSystems,... there are (too) many forums available. It can't be the task of the TS forum to cover this things too. It's impossible to gather all the the newest infos (unless TS related) so info will be outdated all the time in this forum => check the specific forums for newest info !

TS is a free SW so if someone wants to use it, he has to read the docu, do probably some research,... This forum gets "flooded" by mindless basic questions* anyway :(

* questions answered in the FAQ, manuals, or things which could be answered by a little google search.

Users don't read a FAQ if they don't know what it entails, nevertheless something like a table of contents may get users to read a FAQ if they see a headline that has something to do with their problem.

Making FAQs in a Forum is bad idea- users reply creating uneeded information included with a FAQ unless it is locked.
