Fuzzy Sound

I've used TS2 for some time now and today i removed some spyware and played Enemy Territory and afterwards, when i tried to talk, every1 only heard static. I have tried rebooting, reinstalling, and redownloading. I have also looked for a new driver for my sound card (Avance AC97) and have failed to locate any. I have XP and a AMD Athalon 2000+ w/ 1 gb of DDR RAM and 256mb Radeon 9600 Pro. Please help out asap, its really annoying to have to type everything.

It goes away after you close it and start it again. I don't really know the reason for that. I know two other people with that problem. Switching to wave helps, but it doesn't solve it. One of them uses AC97 onboard sound and the other one a really crappy old cheap sound card from Media Markt.

My is the AC97 onboard and the sound doesn't go away after i restart TS2. I tried, restarting TS2, my computer, reinstalling TS2, and redownloading and installing TS2 but nothing works. I tried wave and that still doesn't work. My audio is fine (I here everything crystle clear) but everything with my mic is messed up. It's just static and you can't here me talking. That happens in Windows Movie Maker and TS2 yet I cannot figure out my problem. If someone could shed some light on this, it would be greatly appreciated. I also tried a second mic and it still doesn't work. And I'm trying to avoid getting a new sound card and I'm hoping that I don't have to reinstall my OS cause that's a pain. Thx.

sounds like a better soundcard is best solution.

Thanks for the help. I found out that the problem was that I had spyware attached to my codecs, so when I removed the spyware, it corrupted my codecs. So i redownloaded my driver and the codecs and it works fine now. Thanks!
