I too have done everything I can think of.

HELLO TEAMSPEAK SUPPORT>>>>>>>>>>

When we install the program and then click on the launch icon, the program acts like it is starting up; however, it never does. Nothing comes up. There is nothing in the task bar or anywhere on screen. When you Ctrl-Alt-Del you see that "TeamSpeak" is one of the programs allegedly running. But it is not. When we "END TASK", it waits a few seconds and then comes up w/ TeamSpeak is Not Responding and you can then "End" it.

I am running WIN 98, Dell Dimension P3 500 w/ 640megs of RAM, a Turtle Beach Montego Sound Card and DirectX 8.1

I ran your last version of TeamSpeak w/out any problems. Any help would be appreciated. I search your FAQ and have not found this problem. If it is there could you please direct us to the fix.

It seems the only thing we all have in common is Win98. Can anyone out there (since we are getting no support) tell us if they are having any difficulties with Win98 or do you have Win98 and it's running fine.

I'm running xp so I can't say if it's a 98 problem, but to help clarify things, try starting the program from the start menu and also try starting it fron the TS2 folder. If it runs properly from either of these locations the developers will be able to look into the desktop shortcut for a bug. Also if it works you could delete the desktop icon and create a new shortcut from the folder.
Please post your findings.

Could it be our Sound Cards??? I know my Sound Blaster PCI 16 is not much of a card but it ran TS 1.5 just great.

I personally use a SB pci 16 in my gaming machine, have found no reason to upgrade as i use my stereo for music and can not honestly tell much of a difference using the other sound cards while gaming. got a sb live collecting dust in a drawer

So your PCI 16 runs TS2 just fine. Well............ beats me why I can't open the client.

I doubt it is a sound card problem...the program itself doesn't even come up.

This is not just a Win98 problem by the posts we are getting here.

I have attempted to start it from several locations...no luck. One thing...when I hit Ctrl-Alt-Del, it shows TeamSpeak running as if it were okay. It does not show "Not Responding" beside it. But when you attempt to end it w/ the "End Task" button...it waits a few seconds and comes up w/ "TeamSPeak not Responding".

Can someone who has TeamSpeak up and running shut it down using Ctrl-Alt-Del. Does it kick into "Not Responding" mode? or does it just shut down for you?

Yes..it shows it running as a task/program when I Ctrl-Alt-Del. It does not show it down in the lower right corner in the task bar.

Hope they figure this one out soon. HELLLOOOOO!!!! Even a "We are not sure what the problem is; however, we are working on it" would be a nice response.

We are not sure what the problem is; however, we are finding it hard to work on problems without a clearly defined cause...

Can't help you out (personally TS works just dandy on my computer, 98se). Post logs though... That might speed up things and make coders happy.

Try this patch. Install it over your current TeamSpeak.exe

It has some code to prevent the "ghost" teamspeak. Let me know how it goes.

Well I guess we inch along hopefully towards a fix for this thing. This is what I did.

I uninstalled everything I have ever had on my hardrive to do with Teamspeak. I also uninstalled and deleted from explorer a past version of TeamSound. I then downloaded the TS2 client again along with the patch…………………

http://www.teamspeak.org/files/TeamSpeak_patch14.zip

I installed the client normally then opened the patch to two places. First I let winzip create an unzip file and put it there, then I unzipped again in the TS2 directory and overwrote the .exe file per instructions.

I then went to the new desktop icon and tried to open the client, I got nothing……same old thing. Opening the ctr-alt-del list showed Teamspeak listed. I went through motions and closed it using the ctr-alt del shutdown method…it always takes 4 times to shut it down.

After getting if closed I when to the unzip file and clicked the app. file just for the heck of it. Well I got an error message saying:

Error loading Hawlvoice library (hvdi.dll) Maybe not installed?

I clicked the OK tab and got this:

Access violation at address 004A3E68 in module ‘TEAMSPEAK.EXE’. read of address FFFFFFFF

I clicked the OK tab once…….same message
Twice……….same message
Third click the program opened…………it was the first time I had seem the new format.

I then went to the ctr-alt-del list and noticed Teamspeak 2.0 was on the list. Notice the difference, it listed as Teamspeak 2.0, not just Teamspeak.

I tried to join a server that a squad buddy of mine has set up but it won’t let me. Everytime I try to join any server (it will btw pull up the web based server list) I get the same message:

Access violation at address 004A3E68 in module ‘TEAMSPEAK.EXE’. read of address FFFFFFFF

In fact the only way I can shut it down is to go back to the ctr-alt del list.

After closing it I looked for any log file and there is none. I wish I could tell you more. I still need help, and thanks for trying to solve this, as I type this I am missing a squad night, the first squad night the guys get to test your new product.

My system:

Win98
AMD 1400
Epox 8K7A motherboard
512 ram
Sound Baster PCI 16 sound card (with the most current driver)

That sounds like a "Promotions" department answer. President Clinton would have liked that one.

I do not have a "log" file to send. None is ever generated.

As for the "patch", I downloaded the patch and unzipped the new teamspeak.exe file into the directory and it overwrote the old .exe file. I attempted to start TS, but once again it did the same thing.

I rebooted and tried again. Same thing...ghost TS. Thx for working on the problem though. I appreciate the reply.

This prob wont help you startup ts but.
1: With any luck a message window will show with an error
2: With more luck, TSclient.log will be created
3: TS wil not "ghost" any more, but just quit, like it should.

IF you still dont get any error messages, we will need some 1 on 1 contact. Send me your emailadress ( niels@teamspeak.org ) and i will make a very special version for you to test wtf is going on :)

Okay..patch 17 was already up so I didn't try patch 16. I downloaded patch17 and unzipped it into my TS2 folder...it prompted to replace, I said "yes" and then rebooted. I attempted to start TS2..but go same "Ghost" TS.

I'll try patch 16...then retry 17.

Once again..thx for working on this.

Okay...w/ Patch16 I have successfully connected to my Division server and transmit and receive appear to be working.

Should I attempt Patch17 again or just stick w/ Patch 16??

I don't know what ya did..but it appeared to have worked w/ Patch 16. (I never tried Patch 15)

I will also test in-game (WWIIOnline). If you can PM me w/ what the problem might have been and which patch you feel is the best fix. I will notify all my gaming buddies using TS in case they or friends experience same problem. We will post results and TS praise on our website.

Going to test in-game.

Okay..2 problems that I think are on-going. Upon reboot of computer....when I first start-up TS2 it locks up on the first attempt to connect. It shows the server name but then does not fully connect. I have to "End Task" and reconnect. The second attempt works.

2nd problem...WWIIOnline will now not connect. Not sure why but it may be due to the first TS2 lockup.

Will continue to attempt successful TS2 and WWII. Any suggestions would be helpful...Patch17 may be the answer?

TgR|KILLER
31-08-2002, 13:42
patch 17 is more for that strange mouse stuff i think.. at least i asume it is the patch that niels made after the testing whit me last night..

i had it to on my old pc whit anoter program.. try to start explorer or something first.. go to a website or whatever.. at least so that ts2 isn't the first program u start after a reboot..

Still not working in-game. (WWIIOnline) Will not transmit. Once I get it running out of game it appears to work. Still have to open it twice before I can get it to run.

So since it won't work in-game..still in same boat.
