up until a month ago,ts worked great.i had the rc1 version.then all the sudden i started having problems hearing teammates.they can hear me fine, and the sound is perfect in the games i play.

it sounds like players are keying and un-keying there mics when they are talking.i hear about every 3rd word.it never gets better.the green light when my teammate is talking cuts in and out ie: light goes on and off when they are talking.

here are the things i have done so far:

rolled back system when i first had the problem

1) re-install teamspeak
2) re-install sb drivers
3) installed kx project drivers
4) switched between using direct sound/wave
5) installed rc2
6) did all the above again with rc2
7) new sound card audigy 2 /upgraded from sb live xgamer
8) tried running it in all the diff compatibility modes win98/nt/200

i tried every option in teamspeak to try and remedy the problem,so it must be something in winxp

i have tried everything countless times for the past month.i got a new sound card and the problem still persists.if anyone can give me any suggestions i would appreciate it.its difficult tpo play matches when you only hear every 3rd word. the problem is constant,i havent had a good session since the problem started.

little more info:

dont know if there is any more info i can post

i searched for answers in the forum and i cant find anything remotely related to my problem.

give me this information:

a) what is your ping and your packetloss when this happens (its in your connection info).

b) did you set a bandwidth limitation in settings->options-other ? If so, to what did you set it ?

c) is your system somehow under heavy load ? (high cpu, disk, network usage) ?

a) i dont see ping or packet loss,i just see packets sent and packets recieved among all the other things.when i was troubleshooting this problem with other users on ts,all the info was basically the same as thiers.the problem does sound like it could be caused by packet loss though.

b) i tried all the diff settings from unlimited all the way to the lowest, currently set at unlimited

c) no,not heavy loaded.just the game and ts running

i also tried deleting codecs and re-installing them by re-installing ts

the order is important, ping and packetlos are the two most important values for me to guess whats wrong =). You connect to a server, talk for 5 mins (and let others talk of course), then rightclick on your nick, go to "get connection info" and tell me what it says in "ping: " and in "packetloss: "

OK, never knew that info was available..been on ts for about 2 hrs now.

ping: 73ms

packetloss: 1.18%

i compared it too other users and it looks high.is there any way to fix this?

thanks for your help pwk

ping is OK...but that packetlos is quite high...check if its a problem at your end (try a few different servers and talk for 5 mins and see what the packetlos tells you....). If its a problem at your end (which doesnt seem unlickly), its kind of hard to find out how to fix it. Some pointers what it might be:
- Your internet connection/provider [try with a different pc on the same line, same problems ?]
- Your PC, most likly problems with the networkcard/modem that is used to send the packets...

You have to experiment a bit....

thanks pwk.

its just frustrating because i never had these problems before.been using ts for 6 months or so.

i checked ping and packetloss when i was on ts,and i had the highest packetloss out of 30 people that were on at the time.i tried diff servers, and i got the same problem

i dont have another computer,so i cant do that.i have a netgear hr314 router/firewall,and i was looking at the settings, but i cant really see any adjustments through the configuration i could make.

Hmm,

as I said, all you can do is try around...if you realy dont want to do that, you could contact your ISP and ask them if they could comment on it (maybe they are having problems?). Also a differnt networkcard should be easy to find ? (I have like 5 lying around here :D). Sorry I cant help easily, you realy have to try around to eliminate some possibilities.

You could also try a direct connection (without firewall/router) just to be sure its not your router.

I think i figured it out.it had something to do with NORTON 2003 AV or something in NORTON SYSTEM WORKS.i tried messing with all the options, then i finally un-installed it.seems to have fixed my problem.im using a free av which is just as good.

thanks a lot for your help pwk,i really appreciate it.

Hi there - this seems to be a similar problem for me at the moment.

I changed ISPs, both are "low speed broadband" compared to other parts of the world, however the original was actually a slower (512kb) one compared to the new (1.5Mb). Despite this I'm having problems with TS, where I can't hear full words from other players, though they can hear me okay. (listen to the WAV file attached)

In answer to the three questions posed...
(a) TS reports 332ms ping and 0.06% packet loss.
(b) I never limited bandwidth previously and hadn't changed the settings after swapping ISPs.
(c) even with the game idle in lobby mode and memory use at just over 1GB/2GB, CPU usage at 25% or so, there's no change.

I haven't been able to change the codecs as they appear set by the server admins, per channel. Typically the Speex 16.3 Kbit is used on our server.

Any suggestions other than get a new ISP (working on that too!!)???

Try connecting to a server in a region close to you if you know how to do that. Your ping is kindof high.

edit:
Connected to a number of Australian servers only to have a look at the connection info - all seemed around 200ms with no packet loss reported.
