Sorry, didn't like the first one...listened to the hype about the second one...d/l after waiting in the irc server for about an hour...set up a server on a full t-1...and the verdict is......no better than the first one...sorry guys, nice try but battlecom still rules, even with the occasional disconnects it still is much more clear and has less distortion...maybe ts3 will get it right, but untill then my preference, and the preference of many players i know, will be bc....thanks anyway
this couldve been constructive criticism but you didnt have to say it sucks. they put a lot of effort into it and the last thing they would want to hear is someone drawing right to the conclusion that it sucks. there were also some other new features in this version; not just the sound quality

well, sorry if i offended, but i thought they would want an honest opinion, and honestly, battlecom sounds better, i know it's outdated, and technically speaking, ts has better codecs, but something about the sound quality is fuzzy, crackling and carries background noises...figured they deserved an honest opinion of the product, maybe there is something that can be done to improve it, but until then, my preference lies with bc, even gv sounds better...sorry, but it's the truth
Must be you 'cuase I use both and TS2 rocks over BC.

LOL @ wildman. BC ranks right up there with Netscape. Its so great everyone in the gaming community uses it. LOL yea right. I would have to say BC probably does work great on your antiquidated rig.

Goddammit Wildman... Piss Off!
TS2 ROCKS! By the way! I don't watch porn movies no more... just presses the 'Active local test mode' and listens to the GSM codec... god it turns me on! :D Great Job Guys!
MotherOne Out :D
I have to agree that bc sounds better, but its full of bugs. Teamspeak isn`t bad but when in a game and with 5-6 players connected the sound becomes quite bad, a constant buzzing sound and the voices becomes laggy. Cant anyone make a walktrough how to optimize teamspeak, for apperantly some of you seems to have better sound then in BC..
BTW: I dont use a modem and neither doeas any of my friends.

My sound on TSv2 is way better than BC and GV and with TSv2 supporting the GameVoice Puck, Passwording of channels and all the other features there is absolutely no buts about it TSv2 Is Top.
I agree, that BC is good even today, infact I would say TSv1 was only slightly better than BC and our unit went back to using BC insted of using TSv1 only to support those old sound cards we had and still have.
Remember TS with lowest codec is supposed to sound a bit Robotic, this is to save as much bandwith as possible for those on 56k connection.
My personal opinion, "Anyone that says this is not the best gaming Voice Program out there" doesn't know what they are talking about because they haven't made any adjustments to thier system OR thier system is just screwed up OR they just have bad HardWare or thier drivers are out of date OR they are some sort of competitor to TS. (LOL)

Our team Insomniax has been using BattleCom ever since it first came out, a couple of us even registered and had serial numbers 15-22, later on after MS bought the technology Shadow Factor was cool enough to send those of us who registered early on a free Game Voice.
Sadly as most of you know Game Voice features did not match what BC could do, we tried the other Voice Comm software out there - Roger Wilco, Team Sound, Team Speak 1, there was no question about it, BC while completely unsupported to us was still the king.
We have been using Voice Comms for over 4 years now for gaming - daily - we can really tell the difference in sound compression, bandwidth usage, etc (and if any of you know Insomniax you would know we play a LOT of games) Team Speak 2 GSM 16.4 kbit compression sounds a lot better than BC's best compression, if you're using the default CELP 5.1kbit - well what do you expect?
TS2 is definitely something we will move to if it passes the trial of fire - multiple games of all genres - we are putting it to the test now.
Thanks to the TS2 team for something gamers really want and nobody else provides - BC would but big daddy MS made sure they didn't...

TS wins in my books for one feature.. IT ONLY USES ON PORT! So if you and all your friends are sitting behind firewalls/routers only the server needs to have a prot forwarded and its only 1 port.. ALL THE OTHER voice comes have a STUIPD number of ports or ranges you have to open on both the clients and the server.. They are not worth the time to set up.

jeez....what are you guys?...teamspeak investors or something...lol...all i did was post my opinion, no personal attacks...and i would make a better voice comm program if i didn't have to work for a living like normal people...lol...as far as antiquated?...i think not...did it ever occur to you that my machine may be too good and detects every flaw?...nah, not possible, lol ...neways...have fun with your new program.....as for me, i would rather hear a persons voice than the high pitched static that piggybacks every transmission with every codec, both direct and wave....you would think with all the technology available today, that these issues could be resolved, but perhaps it's just an income issue...don't want to make something too good...why do you think bc was bought out? they were on the right track but were derailed because of it...do you think there is something to the fact that ts was allowed to develop this proggy?

BTW, you are not possibly talking about how it sounds in Loopback / Local Test Mode?
For me as well as for some of my friends TS2 sound really crappy when you are listening to yourself, but when not in testmode others hear you just fine without the "static".
It's not related to the mic either, as disconnecting the mic entirely and simply pressing the transmit button will lead to very high levels of hizzing and scorring.
And again, not in local testing mode, others listening don't hear it.

I would say from the posts already in this thread that not everybody is experiencing this no.
Time to start finding out if there are any obvious resemblanvces among people that DO have this problem.
I eg sit on a Vortex-2 card in Win98SE.
If others post their hardware as well as if they are affected or not, this thread might actually turn from a shoutingmatch into a constructive one :)
We in wolfclaw have tried almost all voice programs ranging from firetalk (The best one sadly gone now) to ts 2.0.
And i must say ts 2.0 was an dissapointment when we connect 5 players to our server we are getting distorted sound and our isdn users get lagged from the bettter codecs or cant be heard on the lower ones.
It all works pretty ok outside quake3 but when we play it starts to make those "scratching" "static" sounds well hmm it just dont sounds as good as battlecom does.
We have tried all possible tweaks but cant get it to work as good as bc does, but i hope that mayby some future realease of ts2.0 will fix this.
I dont want to complain to much but i hoped ts2.0 to be the new firetalk but that wasent the case.

You wanted a flamewar , and you got one...
BTW TS2 Rulez over all !! (and BC included!!)
