lol ok before i start i have searched through the faq and manual

ok now the problem ..

i host ts from my pc for squad matches i useually have about 10 people on the ts server

i also use the same pc to play the games on

in game im getting lag problems while my team mates say it fine

my question is what would you recomend setting the bandwith/codecs to on the server to so i can get a decent game but we can all still hear each other

my system..
conection = 2 meg down 128k up
cpu = 2.4 northwood
os = xp pro

at the moment the bandwith is set to unlimited and the codecs are 5.1
ok my mates systems ..

they range from my specs down to 56k dial up and p3 600 cpu,s
hope fully ive given enough info

any help would be most appreciated

the codecs part i kinda understand (the lower the codecs the less bandwith useage) i found that in the faq,s (proof i have looked :) )
but the bandwith one im clueless about

thanks guys/girls

ehm,

am I getting you right and you are trying to host a teamspeak server for 10 guys on 128 KBit/sec upload ?? Thats crazy stuff =)
This is the formular for your Upload-Bandwidth usage (in KBit/sec) in worst case scenario (all talk):

MaxUpload(Users, Codec) = Codec*(Users*Users-Users)

So, for your 5.1 Codec and for 10 Users you have a worst case of:
MaxUpload(10, 5.1) = 5.1*(100 -10) = 459 KBit/sec.

Do I have to tell you that 459 > 128 ? Id recommend getting a real server for this purpose, but if you have to, do this:

Codec: leave it at 5.1, tell all your mates to limit their -> download <- to 6 Kbit/sec...if everybody has that set up you should have:

MaxUpload(10, 5.1) = 51 KBit/sec, which is OK...

server connections != home connections

You can get quite fast and cheap connections provided you only need them for a box that sits in a server room. Also university have great bandwidth =).

for those that do not know "!=" means does not equal

In regards to what your wrote below:

"Codec: leave it at 5.1, tell all your mates to limit their -> download <- to 6 Kbit/sec...if everybody has that set up you should have:

MaxUpload(10, 5.1) = 51 KBit/sec, which is OK..."

Can you explain what actually happens when everyone was to speak at the same time, and everyone has limited their Bandwidth to 6kbps?

Does the client buffer the info, then play the audio, or will it be choppy sound?

thanks.
