After seaching through this forum for a couple of days I still can't make a decision on what soundcard to get. I just bought my TurtleBeach Santa cruz card but everyone here says that don't work, even though it has no problems that were present with VIA based boards that Creative Cards had.
So if my TurtleBeach card won't work, some have been saying Audigy 2 are good and also the Guillemot Hercules GameSurround Fortissimo III 7.1 will work nicely.

Has anyone confirmed the 2 of the latter cards? I actually got rid of my SBLive card because it was so horrible with static on VIA boards. I am actually leaning toward the Hercules card, I just want to stay away from creative.

Please let me know.

Thanks

Get a BIOS upgrade and keep your SB Live. I had occasional static and clicking until i made a BIOS upgrade for my Epox 7kva.

That never worked and the PCI latency patch never really helped.
Becides, my board that I use for gaming has an SIS chipset. I just don't understand that everyone on this forum says that the santa cruz cards have a hardware defect, but if so, I want to upgrade my card. I actually got rid of my SBLive card.

What I have left are a SB PCI 512, SB PCI 128, 2 Turtle Beach Santa Cruz cards, but looking for something that won't give off any static or problems.

Looking to use teamspeak with playing BF1942 primarily.

Well I just order a Fortissimo III 7.1 since it was only $43. The SB cards are a little more expensive.
Hopefully I won't have any issues with TS.

The SB-PCI-128 and above work great, except you will have to work the creative drivers quite a bit. Presently I have a machine with a SBPCI-128 and another with a SBLive!value

I only use Creative Labs (atleast until one day I can't afford the time to mega tweak the drivers)

I wish H/W companies would get their ****** act together on the drivers they provide. It would cut the amount of questions on computer tech and HW dependant software forums world wide in half.
